So,
who would play Galacticos in the Cup Final?
Would it be travelling side JCFC Seniors or
home nation side FC Prelada?
We'd
mentioned earlier how competitive Group B was
which makes JCFC Seniors victory in the group
even more impressive. They finished the group
phase unbeaten with 13 points from a possible
15 with 11 scored and just 3 conceded. FC Prelada
were not far off statistically – they had 13
points (but from a possible 18) with 8 goals
scored and just 1 conceded. FC Prelada could
argue the stronger defence but JCFC Seniors
would counter with the more potent attack.
One
of the stories of the morning for JCFC Seniors
was Tom Killeen who had a 100% scoring record
as he'd found the back of the net in every game
thus far. It was a record that just kept extending
as he made the breakthrough in the Semi-Final.
It was his seventh goal of the tournament and
he'd put his team on course for the Cup Final.
JCFC
Seniors had the luxury of a two goal cushion
when Paddy Cox opened his personal account for
the day to make it 2-0. What an important time
to score it. The teams entered the break with
JCFC Seniors still two goals to the good. The
second half saw FC Prelada push forward with
real intent as they looked to find a way back
into the game. With time against them, they
began to take more risks, committing players
higher up the pitch and testing JCFC Seniors
with a few probing attacks. However, the Group
B winners showed exactly why they had topped
their pool – their defensive structure was solid,
disciplined, and unyielding.
JCFC
Seniors absorbed the pressure with calm assurance,
staying organised and limiting FC Prelada to
only half-chances. Goalkeeper and defence worked
in perfect harmony to preserve their clean sheet.
Even as FC Prelada pressed in the closing minutes,
JCFC remained composed and professional, seeing
out the game with control and confidence. Their
2-0 half-time lead proved enough to seal a deserved
place in the Cup Final.
