The
next game in Group A was a huge one, possibly
the biggest game of Group A to date – particularly
for Mitre FC A. They were scheduled to play
Galacticos. Galacticos had won 4 games out of
4 so far and would be top of Group A regardless
of the result here. However, a win in this game
would guarantee them Cup qualification and the
Group A win.
The
stakes were much higher for Mitre FC A. At the
start of the round they were level in second
with FC Prelada and had just seen FC Prelada
pick-p 3 points. They needed a win of their
own to maintain second position in the table.
Anything less than that and they would be relying
on results elsewhere to reach the Cup. Mitre
FC A came into the game on the back of two big
wins (4-0, 4-1) but Galacticos would provide
a sterner test.
The
first half saw Huzaifa Hafesji once again in
the scoresheet, striking before the break to
give Galacticos a 1-0 lead. Mitre FC A battled
hard and were very much in the contest, but
they found chances limited against Galacticos'
well-drilled backline. In the second half, as
Mitre pressed for an equaliser, Galacticos capitalised
on the space that opened up. Faisal Pirbhai
added a second, effectively sealing the result.
Galacticos saw out the remainder of the match
with maturity, recording a fifth straight win
and tightening their grip on top spot.
For
Mitre FC A, it was a setback at a critical time,
delivering a blow to their Cup ambitions. The
defeat also provided a significant boost to
FC Prelada, who now held the upper hand in the
race for the second Cup qualification place.
