Following JCFC Seniors last win, their 2 nearest challengers had failed to pick-up 3 points. It meant they would take to the field against FC Maroon with a 4 point lead at the top of the table. They were already guaranteed the Group B win and Cup qualification – many congratulations to them. This was far from a dead rubber for them though as they would be keen to maintain their momentum into the Cup and also keep that unbeaten record going.

They would be up against FC Maroon who were unbeaten themselves in all 4 games today (1 win, 3 draws) and is a run that extends to 8 games going back to Amsterdam 2023. To join JCFC Seniors in the Cup they needed to better the results of Sheffield Thursday and Eltham International in the final round of games.

JCFC Seniors continued their sparkling form with a commanding second-half display to see off a strong FC Maroon side. After a cagey and goalless first half, the group leaders stepped up a gear after the break. Pablo Martinez broke the deadlock with a well-taken opener before Tom Killeen took centre stage yet again. His quickfire brace not only put the game beyond doubt at 3-0 but also maintained his incredible record of scoring in every group game. Killeen's tally now stands at six, putting him in pole position in the top scorer race.

FC Maroon did manage to hit back through Chris Breen, his second of the day, but it was only a consolation in the context of the match. The 3-1 defeat was their first of the tournament, and despite a series of strong performances throughout the day, the result leaves their Cup qualification hopes hanging by a thread. One loss in five games tells a story of consistency—but in such a competitive group, even that can fall short. Their run of 8 games unbeaten extending back to Amsterdam was also over.

The above defeat for FC Maroon opened the door for the chasing pack to snatch second place and qualify for the Cup. Sheffield Thursday were in pole position and held their fate in their own hands. The equation was simple – win this game and qualify for the Cup. A draw would see them consolidate second but they could be overhauled if Eltham International were to win their final game. A defeat would see Mitre FC B leapfrog them in the table.

The equation wasn't quite as simple for Mitre FC B as they needed assistance from elsewhere. A win would see them jumpt to 2nd place but Eltham International could still pip them in the race to the Cup were Eltham to defeat Schindler's Assist in their final game.

Sheffield Thursday produced a confident and clinical performance to see off Mitre FC B with a 3-1 victory. Luke Kear opened the scoring with his second goal of the day, giving his side a deserved 1-0 lead at the break after a composed first-half showing. In the second half, Sheffield Thursday turned up the heat. Nathan Thompson doubled the lead with a well-taken effort before Cameron Robertson added a third, all but sealing the three points. Mitre FC B did manage to pull one back through Ollie Weld, but it proved only a late consolation as the match finished 3-1.

The win capped a strong all-round display for Sheffield Thursday, who are gathering momentum at just the right time. With goals coming from multiple sources and their defence holding firm when it matters, they look to be peaking as the business end of the tournament approaches. The win confirmed their place in the Cup competition.

The final match of Group B saw Schindler's Assist and Eltham International battle it out for pride and positioning. Eltham International knew Cup qualification was no longer on the line following Sheffield Thursday's earlier win. However, the stakes were still significant – a higher finish meant a potentially more favourable Plate Quarter-Final draw.

Eltham International, sitting 4th at kick-off, took the early initiative as Stefano Chagas continued his fine form, giving them a 1-0 lead at half-time. Chagas has been a key figure for Eltham throughout the tournament, and his goal put them on course for a top-three finish.

Schindler's Assist, determined to end the group stage on a high, responded after the break. Jackson Crowder struck once again, notching his fourth goal of the day with another assured finish. The 1-1 result confirmed Eltham International securing 4th place and Schindler's Assist in 6th. Both sides will now look to carry momentum into the Plate competition. They would hope to meet again later this afternoon because if they did, it would mean both teams were in the Plate Final!
