Berkshirelona
FC and Flying High played out one of the most
entertaining and significant matches of Group
A so far. Both teams entered the contest with
plenty to play for – Berkshirelona sat in 3rd,
hoping a win would take them within touching
distance of a Cup qualification place, while
Flying High were bottom of the group, desperate
to turn around a relatively slow start to the
day.
It
was Flying High who struck the first blow, with
Andrew Ford finding the net in the opening half
to give the English side a much-needed boost
and a 1-0 lead at the interval. Berkshirelona
responded with determination and found an equaliser
through Josh Davies, his composed finish setting
up a tense finale. With momentum swinging, it
looked as if Berkshirelona might go on to claim
all three points.
However,
Flying High were not finished yet. Showing great
spirit and resilience, they dug deep and reclaimed
the lead through a well-taken goal by Jaya Rees.
His strike proved decisive and capped off a
superb team performance. The 2-1 victory not
only marked their first win of the tournament
but also dramatically changed the complexion
of the table – catapulting them from 7th place
all the way up to 3rd. A vital win that reignites
their hopes of progressing in the competition.
