Celtic
Eagles tried to respond through their talisman
Manu Lopez, whose skill and energy had inspired
their march to the final, but the Silvertown
backline — led with authority and experience
— stood firm. The next goal could be vital and
it was Chris Wright once more who pounced to
make it 2–0. The momentum was all with JK Silvertown
now, and Wright's relentless finishing saw him
complete a brilliant hat-trick, putting his
side 3–0 up and in full control. It was a masterclass
in clinical attacking play.
Any
hopes of a Celtic Eagles comeback were further
dented when Alan Sanders — another key figure
in JK Silvertown's success both today and in
Porto — added a fourth goal. At 4–0, the English
side looked to be cruising to a famous victory.
To their immense credit, however, the Eagles
refused to fold. Pawel Golost pulled one back
to make it 4–1, and soon after, Manu Lopez added
another — his seventh goal of the tournament
— to give the Polish team a glimmer of hope.
But time was against them, and despite their
late surge, the final whistle confirmed a 4–2
victory for JK Silvertown A. It was an amazing
win for JK Silvertown – Celtic Eagles had only
conceded 4 in 7 matches before and conceded
the same in this one game.
Chris
Wright's hat-trick in the final capped a phenomenal
personal tournament. With 12 goals to his name,
he finished as top scorer in Barcelona, adding
yet another accolade to his growing legacy.
Remarkably, Wright has now been top scorer in
three major eurofootballfives.com events — the
2018 Amsterdam Fives (11 goals), the 2023 Barcelona
Veterans (12 goals), and now the 2025 Barcelona
Veterans (12 goals). A natural finisher and
a big-game performer, Wright continues to be
instrumental in JK Silvertown's success.
For
Celtic Eagles, it was a match too far and, once
the initial disappointment subsides, they can
reflect with pride their performance. They were
magnificent throughout the day, playing stylish,
confident football and demonstrating exceptional
defensive strength, with goalkeeper Tomasz Sieradzan
one of the standouts of the tournament. They
overcame every challenge until the final, and
even then, showed great fight and spirit to
score twice late on. On another day, their story
might well have ended with silverware, but their
run to the final firmly announced them as a
major force in our veterans' events.
As
for JK Silvertown A, this victory writes another
golden chapter in their remarkable story. Champions
of the 2024 Porto Veterans and now winners of
the 2025 Barcelona Veterans, they have proven
their class, consistency, and quality across
two years and two countries. With their trademark
blend of attacking flair, defensive discipline,
and tournament know-how, they have become one
of the most formidable teams in the competition's
history. Congratulations to JK Silvertown A
— now two-time eurofootballfives.com Veterans
Champions and deserved winners in Barcelona.
