The eurofootballfives Veterans Tournament is a moveable feast and after the early success of the event in 2013-2016 we decided to have 2 Veterans tournaments per year from 2017. The first phase of the 2025 Barcelona Veterans Tournament would be decided on a group basis. There would be two groups with 7 teams in each group.

Each team would play each other team in their group once and therefore 6 group games. After which, depending on position, they would progress to the Cup or Plate competition.

The teams finishing 1st and 2nd in each group would progress to the Cup competition. This would be played as a knock-out phase with Semi-Finals and Final.

The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in each group would progress to the Plate competition. This would be played as a knock-out phase with Semi-Finals and Final.

The teams finishing 5th to 7th in each group would be eliminated at this stage.

Game 1 of Group A saw AFC Shooters take on Team Polonia Limerick, but the match got off to a rocky start for the English side. They lost their goalkeeper in the warm-up due to a dislocated finger, a blow that left them scrambling to reorganise their defence just before kick-off. Unfortunately, the game only went from bad to worse, with Polonia Limerick taking full advantage of the weakened opposition.

The Polish side ran riot, with Kuba Cieloch scoring the first two goals to set the tone. Patryk Suwinski added a brace to make it 4-0, before Mates Veselka struck to make it 5-0. Cieloch completed his hat-trick and added another for a 7-0 final score, a comprehensive victory that highlighted Polonia's attacking power and clinical finishing.

Game 2 of Group A featured two former winners going head-to-head: Skidmarks OGs versus Rapid Bosco Navas. Both teams came with pedigree, with Skidmarks having titles from Valencia, Krakow, and Budapest, while Rapid Bosco Navas had won in Barcelona back in 2008. The match started with Skidmarks asserting themselves, using experience and tactical awareness to dominate early possession.

Richard Keeley and Iain Congdon put Skidmarks 2-0 up, creating a strong cushion. Rapid Bosco Navas fought back, with Xavi Sola reducing the deficit to make it 2-1. Despite some late pressure, Skidmarks held on to claim a hard-fought 2-1 victory, showing the blend of resilience and attacking quality that has made them regular contenders in eurofootballfives.com tournaments.

Game 3 of Group A saw FC Tpaktop from the CIS face JK Silvertown A in what promised to be a competitive clash. JK Silvertown A struck first, with Tyron Thomas giving the English side a 1-0 lead and setting the tone for a closely contested match. FC Tpaktop responded strongly, and Albert Abutaliev levelled the scores at 1-1, keeping the game finely balanced.

The match continued to swing from end to end. Timur Garifzianov put FC Tpaktop ahead 2-1, but JK Silvertown A were resilient and Alan Sanders restored parity, making it 2-2. Both teams demonstrated quality in attack and defensive organisation, with neither side giving an inch.

The decisive moment came late when Simon Ford found the net to give JK Silvertown A a 3-2 victory. The win highlighted the English side's fighting spirit and ability to perform under pressure, while FC Tpaktop could take pride in their competitive display in a game that could have gone either way.
