Game
16 saw AFC Shooters round off their campaign against
FC Tpaktop, a side with everything still to play
for in the push for Cup qualification. The Shooters
may have sat at the bottom of the table, but their
performances throughout the day had deserved far
more than their points tally suggested. They refused
to make life easy for their opponents.
For
FC Tpaktop, the stakes were high. Sitting in fourth
place, they were just three points off the top
and needed a win to stay in contention. This was
a tense, evenly matched affair, with both teams
defending stoutly and creating half chances. The
breakthrough finally came when Mo Brett pounced
on a defensive lapse to score the decisive goal,
giving FC Tpaktop a slender but crucial 1-0 lead
that they managed to protect until the final whistle.
That goal not only secured victory but also created
a fascinating situation at the top of Group A,
with three teams now locked together on 10 points,
setting up a dramatic finale to the group stage.
FC Tpaktop had shown once again that they could
grind out results when it mattered most — a quality
that could serve them well in the knockout rounds.
As
for AFC Shooters, their tournament came to an
end, but they bowed out with pride intact. Despite
some cruel scorelines, they demonstrated tremendous
effort, team spirit, and commitment in every game.
They can take great credit for their attitude
and we look forward to seeing them again on their
next adventure.

Next
up was JK Silvertown A and Red Star in what
was shaping up to be one of the most competitive
groups we have ever had. With three teams tied
at the top on 10 points and just two points
separating the leading quartet, there was absolutely
no margin for error. Despite sitting joint top,
the defending champions still had work to do
to secure Cup qualification, and they approached
this match with the focus and intensity of a
side determined to keep their title defence
alive.
Red
Star, meanwhile, had impressed on debut — competitive
in every game and still with an outside chance
of reaching the Plate or even the Cup if results
went their way. However, they ran into a JK
Silvertown A side hitting full stride. The English
team controlled possession, moved the ball with
precision, and looked a class apart. Alan Sanders
opened the scoring to settle any early nerves,
before Chris Wright continued his fine form
to make it 2-0. Simon Ford added a third to
put the result beyond doubt, and Sanders completed
his brace late on to round off a commanding
4-0 victory. It was a result that once again
underlined JK Silvertown A's champion mentality
— every time the chasing pack drew level, they
simply stepped up another gear.
For
Red Star, this was a tough lesson against one
of the best-organised sides in the competition,
but they could take heart from how far they
had come in their debut campaign. For JK Silvertown
A, it was mission accomplished — they remained
unbeaten, moved clear at the top once more,
and sent a strong message to the rest of the
field that the defending champions were far
from ready to relinquish their crown.

Game
18 was a blockbuster of a match — Team Polonia
Limerick versus Skidmarks OGs, with huge implications
for both Cup and Plate qualification. The Polish
side knew that victory would lift them level with
JK Silvertown at the top of the table going into
the final round, while defeat would hand Skidmarks
the advantage on a coveted Cup place. Both teams
came into this one in strong form and with plenty
of pedigree, and the tension was palpable from
the very first whistle.
Skidmarks
OGs could hardly have asked for a better start.
The ever-reliable Richard Keeley struck early
to give them the lead — continuing his outstanding
scoring streak — before Gary Hatfield doubled
the advantage to make it 2-0. Team Polonia Limerick
were not about to roll over though. Dominik Olczak
pulled one back to bring the Polish side back
into contention, but the English side quickly
re-established their cushion when Iain Congdon
made it 3-1.
With
the match finely poised, Polonia Limerick threw
everything forward. Olczak struck again to make
it 3-2 and set up a tense finale, but Skidmarks
dug deep and held firm, showing all the grit and
experience of multiple eurofootballfives.com champions.
Their defence, marshalled with determination,
repelled attacks as the clock ticked down.
When
the final whistle blew, it was a massive win for
Skidmarks OGs — one that put them in prime position
to reach the Cup and keep alive the dream of a
fourth eurofootballfives.com title. For Team Polonia
Limerick, it was a setback but not the end of
their hopes, and they knew one big performance
in the final round could still change everything.
