New
Ham United were not about to roll over. Karim
El Sayed struck almost immediately, scoring his
second goal of the knockout phase to reduce the
deficit to 3-1 before half-time. They showed plenty
of spirit and determination, and despite the daunting
scoreline, they remained in contention heading
into the break.
The
second half saw New Ham United close the gap further
when Mihai Harizomenov made it 3-2, and for a
brief period, a thrilling comeback looked possible.
However, Milner Street regained composure and
carefully controlled the game. George Gould struck
again with his second goal of the final, restoring
a two-goal cushion and easing any tension about
the outcome. Despite their best efforts, New Ham
United could not mount another fightback, and
the game ended 4-2.
Milner
Street's attacking play was clinical and decisive,
with timely goals at key moments. At 3-2 there
could have been a wobble but, after Gould's second
strike, they never looked in danger. Their composure
under pressure, combined with the finishing prowess
of Nicholl and Gould, secured the Plate title
and demonstrated why they have consistently been
a force in eurofootballfives.com tournaments.
Heartfelt
commiserations go to New Ham United, who fought
valiantly throughout the tournament and gave a
spirited display in the final. Their late goals
and resilience showed the quality in their squad,
and although the trophy eluded them this time,
they can hold their heads high after a competitive
campaign.
Milner
Street deserve immense praise for their performance.
Having finished runners-up in a Plate Final previously
(losing 5-2 to Turn Down For Watford in the 2022
Amsterdam Sevens), they have shown remarkable
growth and determination. This victory at the
2025 Barcelona Sevens Plate Final is a testament
to their consistency, attacking flair, and ability
to deliver in high-pressure situations. Huge congratulations
to our Plate champions who finished with 3 wins
on the bounce and scoring 11 goals in those 3
games.
