World Pinteur (Fra) were so close to making it a winning start when they competed at the 2016 Lisbon Tournament. In Group A they recorded 4 wins out of 4 with 6 goals scored and 0 conceded. They met Fundacao Benfica in the Cup Semi-Finals and won the game 1-0. They then met Parques Tejo in the Cup Final. They won 2-0 against them in the group phase and were 2-0 up in the final before Parques Tejo pegged back the French to 2-2. The 2016 Lisbon Tournament would be determined on penalties and it was the Portuguese who were victorious, 2-0 in the shoot-out.

World Pinteur had shown resilience in earning a 1-1 draw in their first outing but had a tough looking match for Round 2. CF Dons came into the match buoyed by their confident 3-0 win in their opener. The early exchanges were evenly contested, with both sides probing for openings but finding well-organised defences in their way. World Pinteur looked composed in possession, while CF Dons threatened most through their direct running and sharp link-up play. Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval, leaving the game finely balanced at 0-0.

After the restart, CF Dons began to take control, upping the tempo and pressing higher up the pitch. Their persistence was rewarded when Peter O'Brien, who had scored in the opening fixture, once again found the net – a crisp finish that gave his side the all-important lead. World Pinteur pushed for an equaliser, but CF Dons' defence held firm, marshalled superbly and backed by another assured performance from goalkeeper Owen Carrick. The English side's organisation and composure under pressure proved decisive as they managed the game effectively in the closing stages.

When the final whistle blew, CF Dons had secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory, maintaining their perfect start to the group and keeping another clean sheet. For World Pinteur, it was a narrow defeat, but their performance again showed promise – a team difficult to beat and capable of pushing anyone close.

Southgate County's most recent appearance with us was at the 2024 Prague Tournament. They had teams competing in the Open Age and the Veterans. In the Open Age section they began well with a 2-1 win over The Shirker's Rest, 3-0 over BP Hatters, 2-0 over Mitre FC B and 4-2 over Moles Salah B. The only disappointment came with a 4-1 defeat to Foot 130 B in their final group game, a defeat that cost them top spot in the table but they still qualified for the Cup. The Cup Semi-Final was a match too far as they lost to eventual champions Foot 130 A, 9-1.

Southgate County's next match was a contest between two sides eager to register their first points of the tournament. Both had suffered opening-game defeats and knew that a positive result here was crucial to kick-starting their campaigns. The first half was a tense and evenly fought affair, with both teams creating half-chances but lacking the final touch in front of goal. As the halftime whistle blew with the score still 0-0, the contest remained finely poised and very much up for grabs.

The deadlock was finally broken in the second half by Joshua Smith, who produced a true captain's performance for New Ham United. His first strike not only gave his team the lead but also marked their first-ever goal in eurofootballfives.com competition. Smith doubled his tally shortly after with another composed finish, putting New Ham firmly in control at 2-0. Southgate County showed great spirit to respond, with Jack Reed pulling a goal back to make it 2-1, setting up a nervy finale. However, New Ham United held their ground and saw out the match with determination and composure. The 2-1 victory gave them a first win in the tournament and a much-needed confidence boost, while Southgate County were left to rue a narrow defeat.

Game 6 brought together Colonel Getafe and Postbusters FC. Porto was Colonel Getafe's destination of choice for 2024 and they drew the proverbial group of death as they looked to add a 2 nd title to their 2023 Krakow Trophy triumph. They opened up with a 2-0 win over Maths FC before meeting 3x eurofootballfives.com winners Skidmarks and lost 2-1. A second successive defeat followed against Football Rangers Hungary, 4-2 before a vital last match victory over Bear Ballerz, 2-1. That win lifted Colonel Getafe up to second in the table to qualify for the Cup. In the Quarter-Finals they met Polonia Limerick and drew 0-0 before a 3-2 penalty shoot-out exit.

Colonel Getafe had made an explosive start to their campaign with a 6-0 victory in Round 1, while Postbusters had battled to a solid opening draw and were keen to build on that foundation. The match began at a lively tempo, with both teams showing their attacking intent from the first whistle. Postbusters drew first blood when Tom Watts, who had also found the net in their opening game, struck again to give his team a 1-0 lead. It was a goal that briefly silenced the in-form Getafe side, but their response was swift. Oliver Grossman continued his prolific run by levelling the score before the break, ensuring the teams went into halftime locked at 1-1.

The second half continued at the same competitive pace, with neither side willing to give an inch. Postbusters looked disciplined and organised, frustrating Colonel Getafe's attacking rhythm for long spells. However, as the half wore on, Getafe began to reassert control through their technical quality and quick passing. Once again, it was Oliver Grossman who proved the difference, notching his fifth goal of the tournament with a clinical finish that put his team 2-1 up. The goal ultimately sealed the win and maintained Colonel Getafe's perfect start, keeping them neck and neck with CF Dons at the top of the table. For Postbusters FC, it was another competitive and encouraging display, but they would have to wait a little longer for their first win of the tournament.

Colonel Getafe's quest for a second title was going well!
