The eurofootballfives.com journey began in April 2007 in Krakow with our first European tournament. Following 89 5-a-side events, the 15 th July 2017 went down in eurofootballfives.com history as our first ever Sixes event and it was a great success.

The natural progression was to add 7-a-side events to our calendar which began in Amsterdam in 2022 with Humble Goats emerging victorious. The tournament was rebooked for 2023 with Humble Goats successfully defending their title. Scoop FC won the Amsterdam Sevens in 2024 before the event was staged outside of Amsterdam for the first time in Krakow in September 2024. Ball Bashers won in the party capital of Poland. In 2025, for the first time, the eurofootballfives.com tournament arrives in Barcelona for our 23 rd tournament in the Catalan capital.

The 2025 Barcelona Sevens kicked off with an intriguing clash between World Pinteur of France and Postbusters FC of England, setting the tone for what promised to be a competitive day of football. Both teams started brightly, showing plenty of energy and intent in the early stages as they looked to make a strong first impression in Group A. It was the English side who struck first — Tom Watts finding the net with a composed finish to give Postbusters a 1-0 lead in the first half.

World Pinteur showed real character and tactical discipline, refusing to let the game slip away from them. Their persistence paid off when Eric Lemoisson coolly converted to level the score at 1-1, ensuring the French team got the reward meaning we were locked together at half-time. Both sides pushed for a winner in the second half, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough as the match ended 1-1. It was a fair reflection of an even contest — two well-matched teams each showing flashes of quality and resilience. For a tournament opener, it had everything: goals, balance, and the promise of more drama to come.

The first phase of the 2025 Barcelona Sevens Tournament would be decided on a group basis. There was to be two groups with 6 teams in each group. Each team would play each other team in their group once and therefore 5 group games. After which, depending on position, they will progress to the Cup or Plate competition.

The teams finishing 1st and 2nd in each group would progress to the Cup competition. This would be played as a knock-out phase with Semi-Finals and Final. The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in each group would progress to the Plate competition. This would be played as a knock-out phase with Semi-Finals and Final. The teams finishing 5th to 6th in each group would be eliminated at this stage.

The second match of Group A saw an all-English affair as Southgate County faced off against CF Dons, with both sides eager to make an early statement in their Barcelona Sevens campaign. It was CF Dons who struck first, and in doing so, made a small piece of history — Peter O'Brien netting their first-ever goal in eurofootballfives.com competition. That breakthrough gave the Dons a confidence boost as they grew stronger throughout the first half, maintaining control of possession and frustrating Southgate County's attempts to build rhythm. The sides went into the break with CF Dons deservedly leading 1-0.

After the restart, CF Dons continued to assert themselves, and their attacking play soon paid further dividends. Tom Roadnight doubled the advantage with a well-taken finish before Lewys Tee put the result beyond doubt with a third goal to seal a commanding 3-0 victory. At the other end, goalkeeper Owen Carrick and his defence stood firm, earning a valuable clean sheet to complete a perfect start for CF Dons. For Southgate County, it was a frustrating start but plenty of time left for them. For the Dons, it was the ideal way to announce themselves on the eurofootballfives.com stage.

Game 3 saw another debutant side, New Ham United, taking on an experienced side in Colonel Getafe.

This was a tough opening fixture for New Ham United as they were up against the 2023 Krakow Trophy champions. Colonel Getafe started off with 3 wins on the bounce (2-0 v Alea Iacta Est, 3-0 v TaHu and 10-1 v Krwiodawcow) before a 1-1 draw with Skidmarks. They returned to winning ways (3-1) over Moles Salah to win Group B. In the Cup Semi-Finals they saw off the challenge of RAF (2-1) to set-up a Cup Final against Turn Down For Watford. The match finished 2-2 in normal time but they triumphed 2-1 on penalties to lift the title.

Colonel Getafe wasted no time stamping their authority on the game, racing into a commanding first-half lead. Teddie Hanifan opened the scoring before Oliver Grossman struck twice in quick succession to put them firmly in control. When Andrew Simpson added a fourth before the interval, it was already looking like a tortuous start for New Ham United. Colonel Getafe's combination of sharp attacking play and relentless pressure left their opponents struggling to find a foothold in the match.

The second half continued much as the first had ended, with Colonel Getafe in full control and showing no signs of easing off. Oliver Grossman completed a superb hat-trick to make it five before Oliver White capped off the scoring with his first of the tournament. The final whistle confirmed a dominant 6-0 victory for Colonel Getafe – a statement performance that made the rest of Group A sit up and take notice. For New Ham United, it was a difficult introduction to life in the Barcelona Sevens, but they would have the chance to regroup and recover in their upcoming fixtures.
