F.R.Ady
(Hun) made their debut in Porto last October as
Football Rangers Hungary and they impressed on
debut. They won a particularly tough group without
losing a match. They defeated 3x eurofootballfives.com
champions Skidmarks 3-0 in their opening match
before defeating Bear Ballerz 4-3. They then defeated
the reigning Krakow Trophy champions Colonel Getafe
4-2. Their 100% group record was secured with
a 4-0 defeat of Maths FC. They were the only team
in the tournament to boast 4 wins out of 4. They
met Turn Down For Watford in the Cup Quarter-Finals
and it was a surprise result to see them defeated,
3-1.
They
had begun life in Barcelona as they had begun
life in Porto. Their next opponents were Sporting
Armada in a high-stakes clash between the top
two teams. Both sides arrived on 100% records,
with F.R.Ady holding a slender advantage in goal
difference by just a single goal. The encounter
promised to be tightly contested. This was a “must
not lose” game rather than a “must win” game as
a draw would still likely secure Cup qualification
for both sides.
The
first half was a tactical battle, with F.R.Ady's
Levente Robert Tamas breaking the deadlock to
give the Hungarians a 1-0 lead at half-time. The
second half saw the game open up considerably,
with F.R.Ady asserting their dominance. Zakarias
Retyi doubled the lead before Szabo Csaba made
it three in three games, stretching the score
to 4-0. Sporting Armada tried to respond, and
Alfie Barclay kept his record of scoring in every
match going, reducing the deficit to 4-1. Levente
Lelek wrapped up the scoring, ensuring a 5-1 final
score. The result confirmed F.R.Ady's place in
the Cup and left Sporting Armada with something
to reflect on despite their strong start to the
tournament. It was a game that showcased both
the quality and consistency of the Hungarian side.

We
continued Group B with Milner Street v Dolce &
Lallana. Dolce & Lallana's most recent appearance
was at the 2023 Lisbon Fives tournament. The day
began well with 1-0 wins over Bugiels Athletic
and FC C(h)ampagne. They then lost 3-1 to eventual
winners PFC of Brazil. This precipitated a heavier
5-1 defeat against Lindfield FC. A 0-0 draw against
Semen Pedang stopped the rot (so to speak) before
they ended with a 1-0 win over RAF2. The result
saw them as 1 of 3 teams locked on 10 points for
a share of second place in the table. Goal difference
dictated they would finish in 4 th position and
qualify for the Plate. The Quarter-Finals saw
them see off Sutton on Tour, 2-1. The Semi-Finals
saw a 4-1 win over Fylde FC Old Boys to set-up
a rematch against Bugiels Athletic. They defeated
them 1-0 at the start of the day and would defeat
them 2-1 at the end of the day to collect the
Plate title.
Dolce
and Lallana could be looking at Plate today as
they faced Milner Street with the two teams currently
in 4 th and 5 th position in the table. Both teams
were searching for their first win in a highly
competitive group, making this encounter pivotal
for morale and positioning. Tommy Forster continued
his impressive scoring streak, giving Dolce &
Lallana the lead 1-0, but Harry Nicholl kept Milner
Street in contention with a timely equaliser.
The first half ended 1-1, with both teams showing
attacking intent but also a degree of caution
given the stakes.
The
second half continued in a similar vein, with
James Gallagher putting Milner Street ahead 2-1,
leaving Dolce & Lallana with work to do. They
rallied well, however, and Joe Tillett ensured
they salvaged a point with a well-taken equaliser
to make it 2-2. The draw kept both teams in their
respective 4th and 5th places in the group, maintaining
the tension in the battle for Plate qualification.
Both sides could take positives from their attacking
displays, even if the elusive first win remained
just out of reach.

Cruz
Del Sur (Eng) made their debut in our tournaments
all the way back at the 2012 Barcelona Fives as
Banter Bus FC and it was a fine debut. They finished
2nd in their 5 team group behind Budapest Celtic
Lions before going out to eventual winners Black
Sheep of Spain in the Cup Quarter-Finals. It was
great to see them return to where it all began
for them and we thank them for their support over
the years.
Cruz
Del Sur didn't have a great record against Hungarian
teams historically. They had lost twice to Budapest
Celtic Lions – both 1-0 (Barcelona 2012 &
Budapest 2013) and twice to Meglepetes – both
3-0 in Budapest 2013). They did have a 1-0 win
over Budapest Celtic Tigers (also Budapest 2013).
Their match against F.R.Ady was arguably the toughest
fixture of all their Hungarian opponents.
F.R.Ady
continued their dominant run in this tournament
with a clinical display, never looking likely
to be beaten. Levente Robert Tamas opened the
scoring for the third consecutive game and doubled
the lead shortly after, before Dominik Bodnar
added a third to make it 3-0 at half-time. Cruz
Del Sur were under constant pressure but battled
on, though the scoreboard already reflected F.R.Ady's
growing superiority.
The
second half saw F.R.Ady continue their relentless
scoring. Fridolin Vild opened his account with
two quick goals, and Szabo Csaba extended his
scoring streak to make it 6-0 and 7-0 by full-time.
F.R.Ady looked like the team to beat for the title,
with a perfect record and commanding performances.
Cruz Del Sur remained in 3rd place, but the heavy
defeat had dented their goal difference, a factor
that could prove decisive in the final standings.

Group
B's ninth game featured Sporting Armada taking
on Dolce & Lallana in a match with plenty
at stake. Sporting Armada knew that a point would
guarantee their place in the Cup, while Dolce
& Lallana were aiming for a Plate spot, hoping
to better the result of Milner Street or combine
a win here with a Cruz Del Sur defeat.
Sporting
Armada bounced back from a heavy 5-1 loss in their
previous game, showing determination and energy
from the first whistle. Ewen Jeffrey opened the
scoring and added a second in the first half,
giving Sporting Armada a 2-0 lead at the break.
The second half continued in Sporting Armada's
favour as Alfie Barclay scored, maintaining his
record of scoring in every group game. Dolce &
Lallana managed a consolation through Tommy Forster,
who matched Barclay's feat of scoring in every
match, and now boasted an impressive 22 goals
in 15 eurofootballfives.com matches. Despite the
late goal, the match ended 3-1 in favour of Sporting
Armada.
This
result meant Sporting Armada went into the Cup
with renewed confidence and momentum, while Dolce
& Lallana would have to wait nervously on
the outcome of the final group game to see if
they had done enough to secure a place in the
Plate. The game highlighted Sporting Armada's
resilience and the importance of key players delivering
under pressure, while Forster's consistent scoring
continued to shine even in defeat.

The
game to bring Group B to its conclusion saw Milner
Street face Cruz Del Sur in a match with Plate
qualification implications for both sides. Cruz
Del Sur had already secured their spot in the
Plate and were safely in third, but a defeat could
see them slip to fourth. Milner Street, currently
in fifth, needed a win to climb to third, while
a draw would see them finish fourth—both outcomes
sufficient for Plate qualification. The various
permutations meant that the game carried significant
tension, with even a narrow loss presenting scenarios
for qualification depending on goal difference.
Should Milner Street lose they may still qualify
via goal difference. A 1-0 loss would mean identical
goal difference to Dolce & Lallana – a penalty
shoot-out would decide who qualifies. A 1 goal
loss (2-1, 3-2 or higher) would mean Milner Street
qualified via goals scored. A 2 goal loss or greater
would see Dolce & Lallana go through on goal
difference
From
the outset, Milner Street showed intent to take
matters into their own hands. Harry Nicholl opened
the scoring in the first half to put them 1-0
up, giving them an early advantage. The hosts
continued to press, and George Gould doubled the
lead, providing more comfort. Milner Street's
superiority at this stage was clear, and Cruz
Del Sur struggled to respond. It should be noted
that Cruz Del Sur were missing their main goal
threat in Sam Cassidy – tournament top scorer
in Krakow last year with 9 – and they were struggling
to replace his goals.
Late
in the game, Nicholl struck again to make it 3-0,
effectively guaranteeing Milner Street's progression
in the tournament. The final whistle confirmed
a decisive 3-0 win, securing a strong finish for
Milner Street and cementing Cruz Del Sur's place
in third. The result ensured both teams would
continue their eurofootballfives.com journeys
in the Plate competition. Dolce & Lallana
knew their elimination had been sealed.
