Dolce
and Lallana made their debut in our events at
the 2022 Amsterdam Sixes and took to European
football like a duck to water. They made an instant
impact with a 3-1 win over recently crowned Amsterdam
Sevens champions, Humble Goats. This was quickly
followed up with a 5-1 win over Whiteley FC and
a 2-1 win over Colden Hommodore. A small blip
saw them draw 2-2 with LFFC (Fra) but they were
back to winning ways to sign off the group in
style 3-0 versus FC Kicks – the reigning Amsterdam
Fives champions. When it came to the Cup Semi-Finals
we had four really strong teams and all looked
capable of winning the title. Dolce and Lallana
met Ball Bashers and lost 3-1 to the eventual
champions.
Today
they had a tough opening fixture against F.R.
Ady of Hungary who impressed in Porto last year
(more on them later) . Both teams approached the
game with a disciplined tactical setup, probing
for openings but not forgetting defensive solidity.
The first half was cagey, with chances few and
far between as both goalkeepers and defences were
on top. Despite glimpses of attacking intent from
both sides, neither team could find a breakthrough,
and the score remained 0-0 at halftime, leaving
everything to play for in the second half.
After
the interval, the game burst into life. The Hungarians
drew first blood when captain Levente Lelek calmly
finished off a well-constructed move to make it
1-0. Dolce & Lallana responded with determination,
and Thomas Forster equalised, restoring parity
and keeping the contest finely balanced. The decisive
moment arrived later when Szabo Csaba struck for
F.R. Ady, securing a 2-1 victory. The match showcased
both teams' resilience and quality, with F.R.
Ady ultimately taking the spoils thanks to some
clinical finishing.
