3 rounds completed with 4 to go. At the start of Round 4 it was Mitre FC B versus Bjorn Helge Riise's Pieces. Mitre FC B had made a superb start to the tournament with 2 wins from 2. Bjorn Helge Riise's Pieces were currently in 7 th but had only played once to date.

Riise's Pieces squad last appeared at the 2022 Lisbon Tournament where they opened with a 3-0 loss to RAF2 (Por) before a couple of wins over Southgate Rascals (2-1) and FC Shark (1-0). Their group phase finished with a 4-0 defeat to CDAL as they finished in third place in the table. They qualified for the Plate and defeated White Collar Revolution 1-0 in the Quarters. In the Semi-Finals they drew 1-1 with OS Sadinos before progressing 5-4 on penalties. In the Plate Final they met Blue Collar Revolution and missed out on the trophy, 3-0.

We therefore expected results to come for them but it was a tough start against two-times previous winners Club Esportiu Llefia and now the team at the top of the table. The first game proved a task beyond them but not this second one. It was a great victory in a game that was decided by a solitary goal. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Jack Thomas. The 1-0 win saw them climb to fifth and still with a game in hand on most of the teams above them.

 
 
 

With Mitre FC B and Barrymoore's Swimming Club both losing their previous games, things at the top were opening up for Club Esportiu Llefia. The Spanish team had 6 points from 6 with 3 goals scored and 0 conceded. Without setting the world on fire they were doing exactly what was required to win games.

Last year they were back in the hunt for a third title. It was a good start with a 1-1 draw v TBC FC and 3-2 win over Toe Punters. There was a 0-0 draw against W London before a 3-0 win over Argon'ze B. They needed a victory from their final group game but lost 4-1 to AFC Blue Boys of Poland. It meant they finished in third place and qualified for the Plate. In the Quarter-Finals they defeated CBT FC, 2-1, and then beat RAF Boulmer by the same score in the Semi-Finals. They had the chance to win a second Plate title when they met Polonia Limerick. A 0-0 draw in the final was followed by a 6-5 defeat on penalties.

Today, they were looking in ominous form and it was perhaps no surprise they chalked up win #3 but they were made to work for it from a spirited Dumplings CF performance. Ramon Batet Segu kept a third clean sheet ensuring they only needed one moment of magic at the other end to take the win. Carlos Perez Tornay's strike was enough to win the match and they opened up a 3 point lead at the top.

 
 
 

Game 12 of Group B saw Bjorn Helge Riise's Pieces quickly return to action as they took on Substandard Liege. Riise's Pieces came into the game off a morale boosting win over Mitre FC B. If they could chalk up another win here they would share second place in the table.

Substandard Liege had opened up with a 0-0 draw but had since slipped to two defeats (2-0 and 2-1). They were certainly in every game and would argue that they deserved more than a point from their two games so far especially as those defeats came against the league leaders and Barrymoore's Swimming Club. However, those performances would count for nothing unless they could turn performances into points.

It was another tight affair and low-scoring contest – just as the other two games had in Round 4. What we saw was a very close game and ultimately there would be just the one goal to settle matters. The game was calling out for a hero and the man to answer that call was captain Alex Spencer. His goal for Bjorn Helge Riise's Pieces meant it was 6 points in Round 4 for them as they rocketed from 7 th place to 3 rd position in the table. They were on the charge.

It was close but no cigar for Substandard Liege.
