It was becoming crunch time in Group A particularly for RSC Andylecht who were about to start their final game. Round 6 started with RSC Andylecht hosting Mitre FC A. RSC Andylecht could move up to third place with a win which would see them with a preferential draw for the Plate Quarter-Finals against the team in sixth from Group B. However, Sharks currently in third place would have two games in hand so fourth spot seemed the most realistic target for RSC.

From a Mitre FC A perspective this was a must win game as the top three teams were neck and neck for the two Cup qualification places. Any slip up now could prove costly. It seemed crazy that for a team who had scored 10 goals and were yet to concede that things were still so tight for them.

Josh Thorpe created a little bit of history as he became the first man to score against Mitre FC A in eurofootballfives competition as Ryan Reynolds impressive run of 4 consecutive clean sheets came to an end. That was trivial compared to what it meant for Mitre FC A's Cup qualification hopes. Defeat, with a game against Norfolk N Chance to come, would certainly dent their hopes. They responded superbly though with Samuele Pagano pulling his team level. They really needed all 3 points though but were unable to find the winner they craved. They would be eagerly watching other results and hoping they could keep their spot in the top two going into the final round of games.

For RSC Andylecht it was another point on the tally. They had performed well in a very tough group with just two defeats but three draws had restricted their rise up the table.

The draw for Mitre FC A was a great boost to Sharks' hopes of reaching the Cup for the third successive tournament. They had won their group in both their 2021 and 2022 Barcelona Fives and still had a chance of making that happen again. They could afford no mistakes of their own as they met Kiwi FC. Sharks had two wins and two draws (against the top two) and now needed to pick-up points against the lower ranked teams in the table.

For Kiwi FC this was a daunting fixture. Having lost all four games without scoring and conceding 24 they were very clearly second favourites for this one. If they could pull off a result they would certainly help their travelling companions Mitre FC A at the top of the table.

If you were looking for a man of the match in this game look no further than Roel Renken. He was the difference between the teams in terms of goals – he was the only man on the scoresheet but sadly for Kiwi FC he scored four.

4-0 to Sharks and they were up to first place in the table but Norfolk N Chance now had a game in hand and were due on field next.

Game 18 of Group B was Norfolk N Chance against John Arne Riise's Pieces. Norfolk N Chance now sat 1 point off the lead with Sharks and Mitre FC A both ahead of them. Norfolk N Chance would play Mitre FC A in their final game so would no doubt want to win this game and have points in the bag ready for that fixture. However, they could not under-estimate John Arne Riise's Pieces and had to focus on this next game.

John Arne Riise's Pieces needed the points for their own needs. They could move up to fourth place in the table with a win of their own. Regardless of points though, a win against the defending champions would be a huge confidence boost for them. Norfolk N Chance were on a 9 game unbeaten streak in our tournaments which represented the size of the task above them.

Joe Sames won the golden boot prize last year and he was at the top of the charts again with 7 to his name so far – he was on a goal drought though having not scored for precisely 1 game! He was soon back amongst the goals here as he put Norfolk N Chance 1-0 up. With two hat-tricks already today he was on course for another when he made it 2-0. The hat-trick goal didn't come but he wouldn't have cared as his team took all 3 points and returned to the top as we moved into the final run of games in Group A.
