The first final of the day would see Humble Goats versus Shaheens United. These two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners and not runners-up medals in the presentation.

The Plate Final was a case of déjà vu as these two teams had met earlier in the day in Group A. On that occasion Humble Goats had won 4-0 so a repeat would be just what the doctor ordered for them.

It was also a case of déjà vu as Shaheens United had reached the Plate Final for the second year running. At this stage last year they lost 3-0 to Dnipro so they would hope it would not be another case of déjà vu!

Both these teams had the opportunity to join a select band of teams who have won both Cup & Plate titles in our tournaments.

The game began at a quick tempo, and it was Humble Goats who took the initiative. They looked the sharper of the two early on and were rewarded when Youssef Yachou struck his third goal of the tournament to give his team a 1-0 lead. The Goats continued to push for a second, and their pressing game stifled any momentum Shaheens United tried to build. At the break, Humble Goats held a slender 1-0 advantage.

After the restart, the Humble Goats doubled their lead through Raphael Olivero, who slotted home his fourth of the tournament. The two-goal cushion was a commanding one, and it looked like the Plate was heading their way. But Shaheens United have made a habit of responding under pressure throughout our tournaments, and they pulled one back when Ammar Shoaib found the net to make it 2-1 and set up a tense finale.

Despite a late push from Shaheens United, Humble Goats managed the closing stages with composure, showing the experience of a team that's played in many finals before. Their 2-1 victory saw them crowned 2025 Amsterdam Sixes Plate Champions. They added the Sixes Plate title to their growing list of honours.

Shaheens United, meanwhile, once again showed their resilience and quality but had to settle for Plate runners-up for the second year running. Still, they had now appeared in three successive finals in the Amsterdam Sixes which shows great stamina in these events. Well done to them.

Humble Goats victory in the Plate Final marked another achievement in their tournament history, showcasing their potential for future success. Whilst we're sure they would have had hopes of lifting the Cup (as they have done in the Sevens) but Plate success in 2025 could well be the stepping stone to Cup success in the Sixes in 2026!
