Game
5 in Group B saw an all-English clash between
two debutant sides who had both started their
Amsterdam Sixes campaigns with impressive victories.
Blue Balls FC edged Tulip Sniffers 2-1 in their
opener, while Salter's Assaulters had recorded
a confident 2-0 win over Chamakh Your Pitch
Up. With both teams full of early momentum,
this fixture was expected to be tight — and
so it proved, at least in the opening half.
The
first half saw little between the two sides.
Blue Balls FC showed plenty of energy, while
Salter's Assaulters looked composed at the back
and patient in possession. There were few clear
chances at either end and both teams cancelled
each other out, heading into the break locked
at 0-0.
After
the interval, however, Salter's Assaulters began
to turn the screw. Jack Campton made the breakthrough
with a smart finish to make it 1-0 and open
the floodgates. Nathan Salter, who had found
the net in their first game, doubled the advantage
with a second goal in as many matches to put
daylight between the teams. Blue Balls FC pushed
to respond but left space in behind, which Salter's
Assaulters exploited as Campton struck again
to complete a clinical second-half display.
The
result secured a second win on the bounce for
Salter's Assaulters, who now had maximum points
from two games and were emerging as early contenders
in Group B. For Blue Balls FC, it was a setback,
but they had shown enough in both matches to
suggest they could still be a threat in the
games to come.
