With
both teams heading into their final Group A fixture,
there was plenty at stake in this clash between
Shaheens United and WPL FC. For WPL FC, it was
a final opportunity to get off the mark in what
had been a challenging campaign. However, victory
could still lift them off the foot of the table.
For Shaheens United, the prize was potentially
much greater — a win would take them to 5 points
and keep their hopes of Plate qualification alive,
depending on how the later fixtures played out.
Shaheens
United approached the game with urgency and determination,
clearly aware that anything less than three points
would send them home early. Their bright start
paid dividends, and they took control of the game
before the interval. Omar Shoaib was the difference-maker,
helping himself to two first-half goals as Shaheens
United built a 2-0 lead at the break. WPL FC had
moments of promise but were struggling to break
down a more organised and energised opponent.
After
the break, Shaheens United continued to push forward
in search of the goal difference boost that could
prove crucial. Omar Shoaib was in inspired form,
completing his hat-trick and then adding a fourth
to cap a remarkable personal performance. FC kept
battling and were rewarded with a well-taken consolation
goal from Sean Murphy — a deserved moment of cheer
in what had otherwise been a tough campaign.
At
full time, it finished 4-1 to Shaheens United
— a result that saw them move temporarily into
4th place, the final Plate qualification spot.
Their fate, though, was out of their hands. They
would now need to wait and see how the remaining
group fixtures unfolded. WPL FC, meanwhile, bowed
out of the 2025 Amsterdam Sixes having faced some
of the toughest teams in the competition, and
although results didn't go their way, they played
their part in a high-quality tournament.

The
final match of Group A saw all eyes on Young Stars
versus Humble Goats. Due to the other results
in Round 5, Young Stars were already crowned Group
A winners. If they could win this match they would
do so with a 100% record and could possibly eliminate
one of their main rivals for the title in terms
of Humble Goats. With 2x Sevens titles and 2x
Sixes runners-up finishes, the Humble Goats were
one of the pre-tournament favourites. They were
under real pressure to qualify for the Cup having
lost their lost game to One Last Dance FC. That
defeat was their 2 nd in 34 group games and they'd
never lost 2 consecutive games in their eurofootballfives.com
history. If they were to do so here then they
would qualify for the Plate instead of the Cup.
Waiting
in the wings were One Last Dance FC who would
be Young Stars supporters for this game. The English
team needed Young Stars to win because if Humble
Goats drew they would be level on points with
Humble Goats holding the advantage on goal difference
(+10 compared to +9).
We
expected a close game but with the match under
way, it soon becamse apparent our expectations
were wide of the mark. Young Stars asserted their
dominance early on as they raced into a 4-0 lead
at half-time and finished the job after the break,
6-0.
It
was a crushing blow to Humble Goats – their biggest
defeat in our tournaments, the first time they
had lost two games in a row and the first time
they had missed out on the Cup. They would need
to pick themselves up for a crack at the Plate
competition.
For
Young Stars though, they stormed into the Cup
competition and, after this result, you could
perhaps make them favourites.
