At the start of Round 3, we had Humble Goats versus TNT Kent. For all their success in our Amsterdam Sevens competition (2022 & 2023 champions), Humble Goats had not quite managed to get over the line in the Sixes discipline. They came close in 2022 with a runners-up finish to Ball Bashers. They were close again last year with Humble Goats on group winning form again as 3 wins and 2 draws saw them top Group A. With 8 goals scored and just 1 conceded they were looking strong again. A routine 3-0 win in the Cup SF saw them reach yet another Cup Final. This time, they missed out 4-2 as the Sixes title continued to elude them. FC NoeNoe were the champions on this occasion.

There was a whiff of an upset in the air as TNT Kent took on Humble Goats in their third group game. Humble Goats had cruised through their opening matches with confidence, but TNT Kent had shown signs of form with a win over WPL FC and were starting to find their rhythm.

It was the Hungarian debutants who stunned the watching crowd in the first half. Tamas Darago opened the scoring, followed by a composed finish from Mihaly Racz to give TNT Kent a deserved 2-0 lead at the break. But champions don't fold easily. The response in the second half was swift and emphatic. Jazz Prins kick-started the comeback, before Jihad L'Merrouni brought the scores level at 2-2. With momentum firmly on their side, Humble Goats pushed on and it was Reuben Tetteh who struck what proved to be the winner. In the end, they turned the tide and edged a thrilling encounter 3-2. The second-half fightback underlined just why Humble Goats have become such a formidable force on the eurofootballfives.com circuit.

For TNT Kent, it was a performance full of promise – they could take confidence from how they pushed the title favourites all the way.

Shaheens United FC (Ned) competed at the 2023 Amsterdam Sixes and made the best possible debut by winning the title. They were called Summerhouse then but return as Shaheens United FC. Last year they got off to the perfect start with a 3-1 win over FC Maroon and 2-1 win over Fog Lane Albion before sweeping Scunthadam aside, 5-1. Another 5-1 win followed over E-Block Europe before their 100% record was broken by The Shepherd's Arms, 3-2. They had still done enough to win the group and met FLA in the Cup Semi-Final. A 2-0 win saw them into a debut final where they met The Shepherd's Arms again. An equally tight match but without the goals this time saw the sides locked at 0-0 at the final whistle. A penalty shoot-out would decide the title and Summerhouse emerged victorious, 2-0.

The former winners had a battle to qualify for the Cup today as they had 1 point from 6 so far and a tough fixture coming up against Young Stars. Young Stars had claimed the maximum 6 points on offer to date and were bidding to rejoin Humble Goats at the top of the table once more. The two teams both began in determined fashion and they cancelled each other out at the break with neither team able to score a breakthrough – the match was level at 0-0.

In the second half the deadlock was broken with a captain's goal from Alex Balint. 1-0 became 2-0 as Madalin Stoleriu kept up his record of scoring in every game to date. When the referee blew for full-time it was 2-0 and Young Stars collected another 3 points.

One Last Dance FC found their rhythm and got the result their performances deserved against WPL FC in game 9 of Group A. Both teams had struggled earlier in the tournament in terms of results, with WPL FC desperate to get on the board after two defeats and One Last Dance FC searching for their first win. It was One Last Dance FC who made the breakthrough, taking control early and going into half-time with a solid 2-0 lead, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

The second half saw One Last Dance FC dominate proceedings as WPL FC struggled to contain their opponents' attacking threat. Momentum was definitely against WPL FC and when you're in this mode it's difficult to stem the tide. Goals rained in from Tom Arnold, who completed a hat-trick, while Aden Turner, Ben Jackson, and Joe Jackson also found the net. WPL FC, unable to mount any meaningful response, eventually succumbed to a heavy 6-0 defeat.

This comprehensive victory propelled One Last Dance FC up the table to third place, a significant boost in their hopes of qualifying for the Plate competition and an outside shot at the Cup. For WPL FC, the loss meant they remained bottom of the group, yet they will look to regroup and fight for pride in their remaining fixtures. Despite the scoreline, their spirit and commitment were clear, and with the tournament still ongoing, they will be eager to turn things around soon.
