Group
A pitted top versus bottom as the in-form Young
Stars faced a struggling WPL FC side still seeking
their first points of the tournament. With Young
Stars joint top of the table and WPL FC rooted
to the foot, this was always going to be a tough
assignment for the latter — and the game played
out true to form.
Young
Stars were ruthless from the outset, racing
into a 6-0 lead by half-time as they asserted
total control. Their movement, energy, and finishing
left WPL FC chasing shadows. The second half
brought no respite, as Young Stars added four
more to complete a 10-0 demolition – the biggest
win in Amsterdam Sixes history dating back to
the tournament's inception in 2017.
Ciprian
Baltariu led the scoring spree with four goals,
while Madalin Stoleriu grabbed a brace. Alex
Balint and Rares Marica also got in on the act,
before the crowd was treated to a rare sight:
goalkeeper Bogdan Berestean scoring a goal of
his own. To compound WPL's misery, a Harry Brown
own goal added to their tally against.
The
emphatic put Young Stars top of the group with
their unbeaten form gathering momentum and their
goal difference receiving a huge boost. For
WPL FC, it was another tough defeat and their
hopes of progressing were now mathematically
extinguished.
