The first Plate Semi-Final saw two strong outfits go head-to-head as The Vic FC faced Wentworth Arms in a hotly anticipated clash. Both teams had come heartbreakingly close to Cup qualification, only to fall short in the final match of the group phase. With a place in the Plate Final now on offer, both sides were keen to bounce back and end their tournament with a trophy. For Wentworth Arms, the aim was to replicate their Lisbon 2023 run to the Plate Final — and possibly go one better this time.

Wentworth Arms came flying out of the traps and once again showed their trademark fast start. Tournament top scorer Liam O'Connell wasted no time in making an impact, rifling home his 10th goal of the campaign to give his side the lead. The pressure didn't let up and before long, Wentworth Arms had doubled their advantage, this time through Michael Wright who calmly finished to make it 2-0. The Vic FC were forced to chase the game, but the damage was done before the break.

The second half saw The Vic FC press hard in search of a route back into the match, but they came up against a well-organised and disciplined Wentworth Arms defence. Despite their efforts and some fluid passing moves that had defined their tournament so far, The Vic couldn't find a breakthrough. Wentworth Arms managed the game expertly, limiting chances and seeing the match out with professionalism and control. The full-time whistle confirmed a 2-0 victory and another Plate Final appearance.

A fond farewell goes to The Vic FC, who can walk away with their heads held high after an impressive campaign. They've certainly made their mark on the tournament. Congratulations to them on a strong showing and we look forward to hopefully welcoming them back at a future edition.

The second Plate Semi-Final brought together two in-form sides in CleanUpCrew and Sambal Jorra FC, both riding waves of momentum heading into the knockout stage. CleanUpCrew had impressed in their last three matches with a solid defensive base and an eye for goal, while Sambal Jorra FC had shown attacking verve to seal their qualification in dramatic fashion. With a spot in the Plate Final on the line, both teams were ready to leave it all on the pitch.

It was Sambal Jorra FC who made the brighter start, showing sharpness and composure in the opening stages. Merlijn van Duinen proved to be the danger man, striking twice to put his side firmly in control by half-time. CleanUpCrew had no choice but to dig deep in the second half, and they responded admirably. Rayaan Prince halved the deficit with a well-taken goal before Josue Jerome produced a moment of magic — a sensational long-range effort that rocketed into the net to level the tie at 2-2. The momentum had shifted. CleanUpCrew looked the more likely to go on and win it in regular time, but Sambal Jorra FC weathered the storm and held on, taking the game to penalties.

Kerese Brazil and Zerai Jinanpersad exchanged composed opening spot kicks. Rayaan Prince converted to give CleanUpCrew the edge, and when Sambal Jorra FC missed their second penalty, it seemed game over. Juan Pablo had the chance to seal it, but his penalty was saved. Brian Akan kept his nerve to make it 2-2, sending us into sudden death.

Josue Jerome, whose earlier heroics had dragged his side back into the match, unfortunately missed his penalty — a cruel twist. That left Danny Douve with the chance to send Sambal Jorra FC to the Plate Final, and he made no mistake with a confident finish. A rollercoaster of a match ended in heartbreak for CleanUpCrew, whose excellent run came to an end. Meanwhile, Sambal Jorra FC marched on, their fighting spirit and composure under pressure earning them a spot in the final.
