At the start of Round 3, we had Sutton on Tour versus FC Kraken.

Sutton on Tour were returning to Amsterdam following their eurofootballfives.com debut here at the 2017 Amsterdam Fives. They were pretty unlucky on debut as they drew a really tough group that featured the eventual winners and a strong Belgian team amongst three teams tied on 12 points at the top of the 6-team table. Sutton on Tour finished in 6 th position in the table and reached the Plate Quarter-Finals. They drew Naranjitos of Spain who have reached Cup Finals in our events before. Sutton on Tour went out in a goal-fest, 7-2.

The team had only played once so far today which was a 2-0 defeat to Hobbema's. They were up against a strong FC Kraken side who had secured 4 points from a possible 6 so far. FC Kraken currently sat in second place in the table and could go top with a win.

The opening half belonged to Sutton on Tour with Haydon Downing opening their account in front of goal to put the men in yellow 1-0 up. David Dunkling doubled that advantage and at half-time Sutton on Tour were in a commanding position. For the lion's share of the second half the teams cancelled each other out with no further addition to the score. We then got the talking point of the game. In the Amsterdam Fives we use enclosed pitches where the ball does not go out of play. A strike from Dan Ball went narrowly wide and hit the backboard and bounced back into the box with enough back-spin to cross the line into the back of the net. It was a super curious freak goal that fortunately did not change the result but potentially could have a bearing later on in terms of goal difference. The third goal was sheepishly claimed by Sutton on Tour as they ran out 3-0 victors.

FC Floriande and Sambal Jorra FC resumed their Group A campaigns in the 2025 Amsterdam Fives, each with different motivations. FC Floriande entered the fixture unbeaten after two draws, looking to convert promise into a first win. Sambal Jorra FC, meanwhile, were playing just their second match and eager to bounce back from a 5-2 opening defeat. Both teams began cautiously in what proved to be a tightly contested first half, with little to separate them. However, FC Floriande edged ahead just before the break through a composed finish by Wahib, giving them a slender 1-0 half-time advantage.

After the interval, the Dutch side emerged with renewed purpose and quickly asserted themselves. Younes El Hassani doubled their lead with a well-taken strike before adding a third to put real distance between the teams at 3-0. FC Floriande looked to be cruising, but with memories still fresh of their 3-1 lead slipping to a 3-3 draw in their previous match, they knew the job wasn't done yet.

Sambal Jorra FC gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Merlijn Van Duinen pulled a goal back to make it 3-1, but any momentum was short-lived. FC Floriande responded in emphatic fashion, and it was fitting that El Hassani completed his hat-trick with a clinical effort to make it 4-1, wrapping up a standout individual performance and an important team result.

The win lifted FC Floriande's spirits and standings alike, turning a solid start into a genuine push for qualification. With El Hassani leading their scoring charts and the team growing in confidence, they were beginning to look like a force in Group A. For Sambal Jorra FC, there were moments of promise, but they would need to tighten up at the back if they hoped to turn performances into points as the group progressed.

Hobbema's and The Vic FC met in Game 9 of Group A at the 2025 Amsterdam Fives, both eager to gain ground in the race for qualification. Hobbema's entered the tie with one win and one defeat, sitting joint fourth and eyeing a move up the table. The Vic FC, meanwhile, were riding the momentum of a dramatic comeback in their previous fixture, having clawed their way from 3-1 down to secure a 3-3 draw. That resilience would again prove vital.

The Dutch side struck first in a lively opening period. Max Pienik found the net to give Hobbema's the lead, punishing a shaky spell from The Vic FC. But the English team have shown character throughout the tournament, and this game was no exception. Archie Aubrey drew them level with a tidy finish before capping off a quick turnaround with his second goal of the game, giving The Vic a 2-1 advantage going into the break.

The second half saw Hobbema's try to reassert themselves, but they struggled to break through a more organised and confident Vic defence. At the other end, Archie Aubrey continued his inspired form, completing his hat-trick with another assured finish. It was a standout individual performance and one that made all the difference.

The 3-1 win was The Vic FC's first of the campaign and lifted them up to 4th in the table, breathing new life into their hopes of progressing. For Hobbema's, it was a missed opportunity to consolidate a top-four spot as they slipped to 6th. They'll need to regroup quickly if they want to stay in the hunt for the knockout rounds.
