Round 3 started with two teams whose form was on the up. After a winless 2011 Barca Fives, CBD Boys had begun with a 100% record and two wins out of two in Valencia. Team Extreme had suffered opening game defeat in Group D but came into this game on the back of 4-2 win over Los Langeros.

Whose form would continue? Whose would stutter? We had a great game on our hands as fortunes swung this way and that way. The early exchanges went with the Omani team as they won the first half 2-1. Both their goals were scored by Adrian Tavain. A Magid El Amin goal kept Team Extreme in it.

In the second half Tavain went on to complete his hat-trick. CBD Boys had squad problems coming into the tournament with a couple of players not receiving entry visas to Spain so they brought on board two loan signings from Valencia. Tavain was one and was proving an inspired signing. His hat-trick was in a losing cause though as Team Extreme went goal crazy – scoring four after the break to complete a stunning 5-3 win. There was a hat-trick for Team Extreme too, courtesy of Dave Cole and Nabil Zawadi's goal was the icing on the cake.

The next scheduled fixture was Panteras versus Gotti United. The home team were searching for their first points of the tournament whereas Gotti United could open up a clear three point gap at the top of Group D with a win.

If we had a bookmaker at our tournaments then the money would have been pouring on Gotti United for all three points. What followed was a coupon buster if ever we saw one. Gotti United's early form deserted them as Panteras cleaned up with a goal in each half from Francisco Rubio Ruiz to earn a 2-0 win.

The result meant a bit of a log-jam at the top of Group D with three teams all on 6 points.

With the form book so wrong we double checked the result and Gotti United confirmed their defeat. When asked why it seems that the squad, with no subs to call on, had suffered a little fatigue and tired. Hopefully for them they would be able to recharge their batteries before Round 4.

The game that would complete Round 3 of Group D was Sporting Abeergut against Los Langeros. The Irish team, like Panteras, were yet to get off the mark and they would hope to emulate their Group D counterparts and secure their first win in this fixture.

Sporting Abeergut's fortunes thus far had broadly followed that of their stablemates, Saga Louts. Both teams won their opening game, both teams lost their second fixture and with Saga Louts losing their third game Sporting Abeergut would hope that's where the synergies ended.

We reached half-time all square at 0-0 and with this game very much in the balance. In the end just the one goal would decide it and that goal came from Los Langeros captain Kevin Burke. It was a valuable goal earning his side all 3 points.

The result meant that as well as the log-jam at the top we had a log-jam at the bottom with three teams on three points. It also meant that just three points separated all six teams in Group D. It was anybody's guess how the final group table would look in just six games' time.
