Last but not least, we come to Group D where the group began with home team Panteras taking on Sporting Abeergut. Sporting Abeergut were the second of the Bure Park Old Boys team. As we touched upon earlier (for the Saga Louts) they made their eurofootballfives.com debut at the 2009 Prague Trophy and were making it a hat-trick of Valencia appearances from 2010 to 2012. The height of their achievements to date had been Plate Runners-Up medals in the 2011 Valencia tournament. Saga Louts started off with a win in their pursuit of eclipsing this achievement….could the men in orange match their colleagues in green.

Early signs were good as they opened up a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Matt Johnson and Larry Moore. They held the lead until half-time and with no further goals to account for in the second half completed a solid victory.

Three points for Saga Louts, three points for Sporting Abeergut – a cracking start for Bure Park Old Boys.

Match 2 in Group D saw Los Langeros meet CBD Boys . Los Langeros join us for the first time although some members of the squad participated in the 2012 Barcelona Fives as part of a stag weekend. On tournament day they sported some spectacular hangovers that hindered the progress on the pitch with the two teams Doofies Dynamos and Rick's Trick United each finishing 5th in their respective groups.

CBD Boys made the journey from Oman to compete in the 2012 Valencia Fives. They deserve a lot of credit for the air miles they are putting in to participate in the tournament. It is their second visit to Spain having competed in the 2011 Barca Fives 12 months ago. They had a tough group and finished 5th before going out to eventual Plate winners in the Quarter-Finals by the narrowest of margins, 3-2.

There was nothing between the two teams early on and when the teams changed ends we were goal-less. After the break a double strike from Adrian Tavain of CBD Boys settled the game and the Omanis ran out 2-0 victors – their first eurofootballfives.com win.

The final two teams in Group D, Team Extreme and Gotti United kicked off at 10.30 on pitch D. Both teams were making their first appearance in our tournaments so we eagerly anticipated seeing the teams in action to launch their campaigns.

Gotti United made the faster start as Dean Brown opened the scoring. It was a goal in each half for Gotti as Isaac Tonkin doubled the lead and Team Extreme had no answer in front of goal. Gotti United's goalkeeper Alexandre Spoerri kept a clean sheet and his team were victorious.

The result gave a perfect bit of symmetry to proceedings with all three away teams winning by the same 2-0 margin.
