Game
1 of Group B saw Los Amblos face Pork Vale in
a reunion of last year's Porto clash, which Pork
Vale had won 3-1. This time, Los Amblos were determined
to turn the tables, and they started the game
with intensity and focus. Greg Spiteri gave them
the lead, followed by a second from Ade Chester,
putting the hosts 2-0 up and setting the tone
for an exciting encounter. Pork Vale responded
before half-time when Paul Johnstone pulled one
back, making it 2-1 at the interval and keeping
the contest alive.
After
the break, Los Amblos quickly reasserted control,
with John Petevinos scoring twice to extend their
advantage to 4-1. The double from Petevinos highlighted
the attacking threat and composure in front of
goal that had served Los Amblos so well in the
first half. The game seemed to be slipping out
of Pork Vale's grasp as Los Amblos looked comfortable
with the three-goal cushion.
However,
Pork Vale were not finished. The visitors launched
a late fightback, with Paul Johnstone scoring
again and Steve Lacey adding a further goal to
make it 4-3. The comeback injected plenty of drama
into the closing stages, and the tension rose
as Pork Vale pushed for an equaliser, keeping
Los Amblos on the back foot.
In
the end, time ran out before the visitors could
complete the turnaround, and Los Amblos claimed
a hard-fought 4-3 victory. It was a perfect start
to their Group B campaign and a satisfying revenge
over last year's result, demonstrating both attacking
quality and the resilience needed to withstand
a late surge from Pork Vale.

At
the 2024 Porto Tournament Polonia Limerick entered
the Super Veterans and the Open Age categories.
They opened up with a solid 0-0 against The Warriors
before a 3-1 win over Pork Vale. They followed
this up with a 3-0 win over Bure Park Seniors
before a 1-1 draw with Peebles All Stars. It was
tight at the top but Polonia Limerick pulled out
two victories just when they needed them. A 6-0
win over Los Amblos set up a thrilling finale
against Bure Park Old Boys. A loss would have
seen Bure Park Old Boys champions, a draw would
have seen Peebles All Stars champions but a win
would secure the title for Polonia Limerick. They
produced a 1-0 win to lift the title in a fantastic
climax to the event. Their Open Age team were
also title winners in a unique and sensational
double.
This
was a tough opening fixture for our debutants,
Hatfield. It was also an opportunity to make a
strong first impression on the eurofootballfives.com
Super Veterans stage.
The
first half was competitive, but it was Polonia
Limerick who drew first blood. Lech Madajek scored
the opening goal to put the Polish side 1-0 up
at half-time. Hatfield worked hard to create opportunities,
but Polonia's experience and organisation in defence
made it difficult for the English debutants to
find an equaliser. In the second half, Polonia
Limerick maintained control and doubled their
lead through Madajek once again, completing his
brace and putting the result beyond doubt. The
reigning champions showed composure, discipline,
and clinical finishing, ensuring that Hatfield
remained on the back foot throughout the period.
The game finished 2-0 to Polonia Limerick, a professional
and controlled victory for the defending champions.
Hatfield, while disappointed not to get on the
scoresheet, gained valuable experience in their
first eurofootballfives.com Super Veterans outing
and can take plenty of positives from their determination
and effort against such a strong opponent. |

Game
3 of Group B saw debutants Tavria from Ukraine
take on Los Amblos, who were already off the mark
with a win. Tavria became the first team from
Ukraine to feature in our Barcelona tournaments
since Monexy's victorious appearance in 2015,
making their debut a highly anticipated occasion.
From the first whistle, the Ukrainians showed
they were not here just to participate, coming
out with intensity and attacking purpose.
Tavria
quickly made their mark on the game. Ruslan Khodos
opened the scoring, setting the tone for a dominant
performance, before Marchenko Oleksii made it
2-0. Andrii Khoruzhev added a third before the
break, leaving Los Amblos with plenty of work
to do at half-time and showing the effectiveness
of Tavria's forward play and cohesion.
The
second half continued in much the same vein, with
Tavria's momentum only increasing. Andriy Morev,
who had previously faced Los Amblos playing for
Scotland's Peebles All Stars, added a fourth goal
to underline the visitors' class and secure a
commanding lead. Los Amblos fought back and were
rewarded with a consolation goal from Ade Chester,
giving them something to celebrate amidst a tough
afternoon.
The
game finished 4-1 to Tavria, a stunning debut
for the Ukrainian side and a performance that
announced their arrival on the eurofootballfives.com
Super Veterans stage. Los Amblos, despite the
defeat, showed determination to get on the scoresheet,
but Tavria's quality and attacking fluidity proved
decisive in securing a memorable first win. |

Game
4 of Group B saw Pork Vale face Hatfield, with
both sides searching for their first win of
the tournament. Hatfield, making their eurofootballfives.com
Super Veterans debut, came into the game determined
to make an impact. Pork Vale were making their
second appearance having played in Porto last
season and were looking to bounce back after
a narrow opening defeat. From the outset, Hatfield
started strongly and looked the more composed
side in possession.
The
debutants were rewarded for their bright start,
going 2-0 up at half-time. Mark Wood scored
their first-ever goal in eurofootballfives.com
competition, giving his team the lead, before
Martin Lempriere added a second to put them
in control. The half-time score reflected Hatfield's
early dominance and their clinical finishing
when chances came their way. Hatfield continued
to press after the break, turning their two-goal
lead into a commanding margin. Lempriere completed
his hat-trick, making it 4-0, before Jason Felloni
added a further goal to wrap up a comprehensive
5-0 victory. The team's attacking cohesion and
sharp movement caused problems for Pork Vale
throughout, and Hatfield remained disciplined
at the back to keep a clean sheet.
It
was a perfect response from Hatfield in their
first taste of eurofootballfives.com Super Veterans
action. They recognised they were up against
a quality side in their first game and didn't
let it phase them going into this fixture. Pork
Vale, meanwhile, were left to reflect on a difficult
day so far, unable to find a way past a confident
and well-organised opponent. The result gave
Hatfield their first points and plenty of momentum
moving forward in Group B.

We
reached the halfway stage of Group B by witnessing
a high-quality clash between Polonia Limerick
and Tavria, with both sides coming into the match
on the back of opening wins. Poland versus Ukraine
promised to be a competitive encounter, and the
game did not disappoint. The first half was tightly
contested, with both teams showing discipline
and organisation. Chances were at a premium, and
neither side could find a breakthrough, leaving
the score 0-0 at half-time.
After
the break, Tavria struck first when Eduard Havrylenko
found the net to put the Ukrainians 1-0 up. It
was a goal that reflected their attacking quality
and belief, giving them a valuable advantage and
testing Polonia's resolve. The Polish side responded
well, however, showing the composure and experience
that had helped them lift the trophy in Porto
last year.
Polonia
Limerick fought back in determined fashion. Lech
Madajek scored to level the contest, and shortly
after, Ado Hyland put the Poles ahead, making
it 2-1. The turnaround demonstrated their quality
under pressure and ability to deliver in key moments.
Tavria pressed for an equaliser, but Polonia's
defence held firm to see out the victory.
The
match ended 2-1 to Polonia Limerick, a result
that kept both sides at the top of Group B and
set up an intriguing dynamic for the remainder
of the tournament. With two of the strongest teams
in the group facing off so competitively, it offered
an early taste of what could be a thrilling Cup
Final later in the event. |
