Game
4 brought together two teams who had both made
winning starts — Athletico Charhad Vets and JK
Silvertown — in what promised to be a key early
clash at the top of Group A. With confidence high
in both camps, the stage was set for an intriguing
battle between two sides full of experience and
quality. From the outset, it was JK Silvertown
who looked the sharper outfit, moving the ball
well and pressing with purpose as they sought
to take control of the game.
Their
positive approach was rewarded before half-time
when Greg Wiles opened the scoring, putting JK
Silvertown 1-0 up at the interval. It was a well-taken
finish and, notably, the first goal Athletico
Charhad Vets had conceded in the tournament —
a sign of how well Silvertown were playing. The
Englishmen went into the break with momentum and
a sense that they were starting to assert themselves
as one of the teams to beat in the group. In the
second half, JK Silvertown continued to dominate
proceedings, showing composure and discipline
in possession. Greg Wiles struck again to make
it 2-0, completing a fine individual performance
with his second of the game. Athletico Charhad
Vets tried to rally, but Silvertown remained in
control, adding a third goal to seal an emphatic
3-0 victory and maintain their perfect start to
the competition.
It
was an impressive all-round display from JK Silvertown
— strong at the back, a clean sheet for Ray Coker,
creative in attack, and clinical in front of goal.
For Athletico Charhad Vets, it was a tough outing
against quality opposition, but they remained
very much in contention in the group. Silvertown,
meanwhile, looked every bit like early Cup contenders.

Game
5 saw Old Vipers take on Team PL Blue Boys,
with both sides looking to bounce back after
opening defeats. The match carried extra importance
as each team aimed to get their first points
on the board and build some momentum in Group
A. The Polish side started brightly, showing
good movement and passing as they looked to
dictate the tempo, while the Americans once
again impressed with their effort and organisation
despite the Barcelona heat.
It
was Team PL Blue Boys who made the breakthrough
midway through the first half, with Mirek Kurzeja
finding the net to give his team the lead. Soon
after, Edi Przekwas doubled the advantage, putting
the Poles 2-0 up at half-time and in firm control.
The Old Vipers worked hard to find a way back
into the game, but they were met by a well-structured
Blue Boys defence and a confident performance
between the posts from Mario Kupisiak.
In
the second half, the Blue Boys continued where
they left off, showing a clinical edge in front
of goal. Both Kurzeja and Przekwas struck again
to complete their braces and seal a convincing
4-0 victory. The attacking duo combined beautifully
throughout, their understanding proving too
much for the Vipers' back line to handle.
For
Team PL Blue Boys, it was the perfect response
to their opening defeat — four goals scored,
none conceded, and their first clean sheet of
the tournament. The Old Vipers, though beaten,
continued to show admirable spirit and sportsmanship,
earning the respect of opponents and spectators
alike.

Game
6 brought together The Warriors and Bristol Wanderers
in what proved to be another tightly contested
Group A encounter. The Warriors came into the
match unbeaten after their opening win, while
Bristol Wanderers were looking to bounce back
from a narrow defeat and get their first points
on the board. The opening stages were competitive,
with both sides working hard to control the midfield
and limit clear chances. At 0-0 at half-time,
it was anyone's game.
After
the restart, it was Bristol Wanderers who struck
first through Nick Drake, giving his side a well-earned
lead. The finish was a reward for the Wanderers'
persistence and attacking intent, and it also
marked the first goal conceded by Warriors goalkeeper
Matt Elsey in the tournament — a sign of just
how solid The Warriors had been up to that point.
However,
true to their name, The Warriors fought back strongly.
Led once again by their inspirational captain
Russ Weeks, they found an equaliser to make it
1-1, with Weeks scoring for the second game running.
Having scored 1 in 7 Veterans tournaments he now
had 4 in 2 Super Veterans events – he was maturing
like a fine wine. His consistent goal-scoring
form and leadership continued to drive his team
forward and keep their unbeaten start intact.
As
the final whistle blew, both sides could take
positives — Bristol Wanderers had shown real progress
and resilience, while The Warriors maintained
their steady start with another result and another
goal from their talismanic skipper. The draw kept
the group finely poised heading into the next
round of fixtures.
