Game
7 saw Athletico Charhad Vets take on Old Vipers
in a match that carried importance for both sides.
The English team came into the fixture with one
win and one defeat, while the Americans were still
searching for their first points in their debut
tournament. The Vipers once again earned plenty
of admiration for their effort, teamwork, and
positive attitude, facing experienced opposition
with determination and spirit.
The
first half was a tight and competitive affair,
with little to separate the teams. Athletico Charhad
Vets looked to control possession, but the Old
Vipers defended bravely and limited clear-cut
chances. Both sides had moments of promise going
forward, yet neither could find the breakthrough
before the interval, and it remained 0-0 at half-time
— a fair reflection of the balance of play.
After
the break, the Charhad Vets began to turn up the
pressure and were eventually rewarded when Danny
McGhan found the net, scoring what proved to be
the decisive goal. His finish gave the English
side a vital edge and secured a 1-0 victory in
a match where defensive discipline was key. The
Vets' goalkeeper, Robert Jarrett, also played
an important role, recording his second clean
sheet of the tournament with another calm and
composed display between the posts.
While
Athletico Charhad Vets strengthened their position
in the group and bounced back well from their
earlier defeat, the Old Vipers could again hold
their heads high. They pushed their opponents
all the way, showing progress and resilience as
they continued to embrace the challenge and spirit
of the Barcelona Super Veterans.

Game
8 brought together the two early pace-setters
in Group A as JK Silvertown met The Warriors
in a genuine top-of-the-table clash. Both sides
came into the game unbeaten, with JK Silvertown
boasting a perfect record and The Warriors close
behind after a solid start to their campaign.
Expectations were high for a competitive encounter,
but what followed was a dominant display from
JK Silvertown that underlined their credentials
as one of the tournament's standout teams.
JK
Silvertown made a flying start, catching The
Warriors off guard with their intensity and
sharp movement. They raced into a commanding
3-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from
Greg Wiles, Steven Starkey and Jordan Wilson-Pritchard.
It was clinical, confident football from Silvertown,
who combined slick passing with ruthless finishing
to put themselves firmly in control before the
break.
The
Warriors regrouped and battled hard in the second
half, looking to find a way back into the contest.
Goalkeeper Matt Elsey made a fine save to deny
Silvertown another goal, but fortune was not
on his side when a defensive rebound saw the
ball deflect in for an unfortunate own goal.
That moment effectively wrapped up the points
and completed the scoring at 4-0.
For
JK Silvertown, it was another statement victory
that extended their 100% record and kept them
sitting proudly at the top of the table. The
Warriors, despite the scoreline, could take
positives from their resilience and effort against
an in-form opponent. The result, however, confirmed
JK Silvertown as the team to beat in Group A.

Game
9 featured Bristol Wanderers taking on Team PL
Blue Boys in another intriguing Group A fixture.
Both sides came into the match with confidence
after positive results in their previous outings
— the Polish side fresh from a 4-0 win, and Bristol
Wanderers buoyed by getting off the mark with
a hard-earned draw. With both teams eyeing momentum
heading into the later stages of the group phase,
the scene was set for an entertaining contest.
The
match proved to be closely fought, with neither
team able to fully dominate the other. Bristol
Wanderers continued to show their improvement,
playing with greater belief and composure in possession,
while Team PL Blue Boys looked sharp and organised,
building on their growing confidence after finding
their scoring rhythm. It was a game of fine margins,
where quality finishing would ultimately make
the difference.
For
the Blue Boys, that clinical touch once again
came from the in-form Mirek Kurzeja, who struck
both goals for his side to take his personal tally
to four for the tournament. His composure and
eye for goal were decisive once more, giving the
Polish team another valuable three points. Bristol
Wanderers, though disappointed with the result,
did have something to celebrate as captain Russell
McAulay opened his account for the competition,
a fitting reward for his leadership and effort.
At
full-time, the scoreboard read 2-1 in favour of
Team PL Blue Boys, who continued their resurgence
after a slow start. The victory kept them firmly
in contention for qualification, while Bristol
Wanderers could take encouragement from another
competitive performance that showed real progress
and fighting spirit.
