So, onto Round 5 we go and still plenty to play for in Group A. When we last played this format in Lisbon in 2019, RAF1 did pretty well. They were on excellent form finished joint second in the table on 11 points from 6 games. They were level with 2017 champions Pangare Futebol Clube (Bra) but were third on goal difference and missed out on the Cup. They were brilliant in the Plate competition with 6-1, 2-0 and 3-1 victories taking them to victory.

RAF1 were looking good today having won 3 out of 4 games to date. A fourth win of the day would ensure they finished the round with at least a share of first position in the table. Fylde FC OB were only 3 points behind and could go level with RAF1 if they could win. They'd begun with two good wins but had unexpectedly dropped points in their previous game.

It was the Portuguese who made the initial breakthrough here as Micael Nascimento continued his fine run of form in front of goal. He had a hat-trick in the last game and he was on target again with his fifth goal of the tournament to make it 1-0 to RAF1. He then bagged his fifth goal in two games to make it 2-0 and secure all 3 points for his team. His tally of six goals saw him currently lead the top goalscorer rankings.

RAF1 had just moved onto 12 points at the top of Group A. So far, every time RAF1 had opened up a 3 point lead their sister-squad immediately closed the gap to 0 with a win of their own. RAF3 currently had a 100% win record and could go joint top with a fourth successive victory.

They were up against Tikki Masala whose record today read win-loss-loss-win. The Dutch could move level with RAF3 with victory albeit having played a game more than their opponents.

RAF3 were looking unstoppable at the moment though and they forged ahead through Hugo Martins. Hugo Dias then struck the cross-bar from a free-kick but the second goal wasn't too far away. Joao Fernandes scored his third of the tournament to make it 2-0. There was still time for a third as Diogo Arsenio opened his personal account. RAF3 marched on.

The 15th game of Group A was Deportivo Dooradoyle versus Sutton on Tour.

If you were reading earlier you will have noted that Sutton on Tour had a pretty tough group on debut at the 2017 Amsterdam Fives. They did so again at the 2020 Warsaw Tournament with 4 of the other 5 teams in the group reaching a Cup Final in our tournaments either before or since. A couple of 1-0 defeats could have gone their way on another day including such a defeat to the eventual winners of the tournament but ultimately they ended up in 6 th position in the table which saw them eliminated from the tournament. They'd have been hoping for an easier group this time around.

Looking at the progress of the two RAF teams that may not have been the case but the other 5 teams in the group looked relatively evenly matched. These teams currently sat in 5 th and 6 th place, separated only by goal difference, but a win for either would see them go joint third and an outside chance of Cup qualification.

It was Deportivo Dooradoyle who took the lead through Kevin Shine who bagged his second goal of the day. At this stage maybe Sutton on Tour would have taken a draw although that result didn't really help either team in the context of the group table. Sutton on Tour got back on level terms through Haydon Downing.

We finished all square at 1-1 which was a result that mathematically ended both teams hopes of Cup qualification. Conversely, it meant they were each only 1 victory away from securing Plate qualification. The biggest losers of this result were Bugiels Rovers in the race for the Plate.
