Round 4 of Group A began with Bugiels Rovers in action again. They had so far struggled for results on what was proving to be a baptism of fire in European competition. They were looking for their first points of the day and the last thing they needed at this stage was a game against the league leaders. That is exactly what they faced in the form of RAF3.

In contrast to Bugiels Rovers, RAF3 had started superbly. There were two wins from two games and yet to concede a goal. It was always going to be an uphill struggle for Bugiels at 0-0 but when RAF3 took the lead they had a mountain to climb. Tiago Nogueira, with 6 goals in the tournament in 2022, scored his first of the day in 2023. When Joao Fernandes made it 2-0, RAF3 were on course to open up a 3 point lead at the top of the table.

Joao Fernandes was on target again to make it 3-0 and put the result to bed. Hugo Martins put the cherry on the cake to make it 4-0 as RAF3 flexed their muscle in Group A. They were the team to catch – 9 points from a possible 9.

Sutton on Tour were returning to the eurofootballfives.com tour for a third time. They made their debut at the 2017 Amsterdam Fives. They were pretty unlucky on debut as they drew a really tough group that featured the eventual winners and a strong Belgian team amongst three teams tied on 12 points at the top of the table. Sutton on Tour finished in 6th position in the table and reached the Plate Quarter-Finals. They drew Naranjitos of Spain who have reached Cup Finals in our events before. Sutton on Tour went out in a goal-fest, 7-2.

Six years on in Lisbon they had made a decent start with one win and one defeat from their first two fixtures. They currently sat in fourth position but could move up to joint second if they could take 3 points against RAF1 in their next fixture.

RAF1 were one of those teams already in 2nd place and could go joint top if they could take victory from this game. Tiago Sousa was second top scorer in the 2022 Lisbon Tournament with 9 goals. He broke the deadlock to put RAF1 ahead with his third of today's competition. Micael Nascimento then scored the first hat-trick of the tournament as his goals extended the lead to 4-0 which is how we finished.

Game 12 of Group A was Tikki Masala versus Deportivo Dooradoyle. Tikki Masala began well with a 1-0 win at the start of Group A. They had since slipped to two narrow defeats – both by the odd goal. Could they get back to winning ways?

Whilst Tikki Masala were on debut, Deportivo Dooradoyle were the longest-serving team in our events having made their debut at the 2011 Amsterdam Fives. They reached the Plate Quarter-Finals with success over Goals Aloud (Wal). In the Semi-Finals they were victorious 3-1 over CEPL of Holland (who'd later become 2012 Amsterdam Fives winners) before a narrow defeat in the final to Rigford Seahawks (also 2009 Krakow Trophy & 2012 Berlin Fives Cup winners and 2009 Prague Trophy Plate winners). Against Dutch opposition there was also a 2-0 win versus RFM and 7-2 defeat to 3x eurofootballfives.com winners Athletico Do Hollande.

This was a hugely entertaining tie with Tikki Masala twice taking the lead through Miguel del Rio Lorenzo. However, Deportivo Dooradoyle hit back each time. Patrick O'Brien, top scorer at the 2018 Gdansk Tournament, equalized for 1-1 with his first of the day. Kevin Shine then equalized for 2-2.

It was not to be though for Deportivo Dooradoyle as the luck of the Irish deserted them. An own goal settled the match in favour of Tikki Masala. Final score, 3-2.
