With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament.

Always Short had the opportunity to bounce back from opening game defeat but it would not be easy against a GSF Drunkerz team. The Slovakian team were the current Bratislava Fives champions and were on a run of 5 games unbeaten in our tournaments and just 1 defeat in their last 9 fixtures. After the early exchanges it looked like that run would extend to 6 unbeaten and just 1 defeat in 10 games. GSF Drunkerz established a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Martin Volek.

In the second half the game was closer and Always Short lived up to their name by getting on the scoresheet from a losing position with Lee Kingham and Nicholas Riley both opening their European accounts. GSF Drunkerz had enough in the tank though to see the game out – Martin Volek completed his hat-trick and there was a first goal of the day for Dominik Carny. Final score, 4-2.

Next up on Pitch A was Fleet Street Elite 1 versus FC Funtime. The former were looking for their first points of the day whilst the latter were hoping to reach the summit by claiming a second successive victory.

There was not much between the teams in the first half and, in fact, it would be a solitary strike that would divide the teams going into half-time. That strike came from Mateusz Wiackowski – his second in as many games – and it was FC Funtime who lead.

At 1-0 the game was delicately poised and the second goal in this game was always likely to be crucial in the destination of the points. Should Fleet Street Elite 1 get it then it was game on but should FC Funtime manage to claim it they would be well on course victory.

When the second goal arrived it was Kasper Kulinowski who scored it and at 2-0 Fleet Street Elite 1 had an uphill task to get something from this game. That task got more difficult when Kulinowski scored his second and FC Funtime's third goal to complete victory.

Fleet Street Elite 1 could still qualify for the Cup despite two defeats but they would now need to win their final 3 games. FC Funtime were well on their way.

To complete Round 2 we had Tea Time versus Spider Mans & Great Hawk. Both these teams had avoided defeat first time out with the English team taking a draw and the Polish team taking a victory.

The Spider Mans group was making their fourth appearance and their 2nd appearance with a twin-pronged attack. This meant a second appearance for Spider Mans & Great Hawk. The Great Hawk team drew a really tough group and despite just 1 defeat in 5 games finished 3rd to miss out on the Cup. In the Plate they won their Quarter-Final 3-1 to reach a Semi Final against Frank Hirth B (could easily have been a Cup Semi-Final on another day) and Great Hawk went out on penalties.

They were looking good in this one as an Adam Woodmansey goal set them on their way. Before half-time it was 2-0 as Sam A'Court put the English team firmly in control.

There was a second goal of the tournament for Borja Perez Martinez after the break but alas for Tea Time it was to be a mere consolation. Ben Jones, also now 2 goals in 2 games, scored a third for Spider Mans & Great Hawk as the men with Batman emblazoned on their shirts completed a 3-1 win that gave them a share of second place in Group A.
