FC Broxelona B (Eng)

Athletic Pasty came into Round 2 on the back of a battling draw against Football FC Broxelona B. So, the last thing they needed in their search for a first victory was to come up against a CIS Committee who had lost just once in 3 previous tournaments in eurofootballfives.com competition (Budapest Fives x 2, Bratislava Fives x 1). Including the earlier game today this meant 1 defeat in 24 games.

Athletic Pasty started really well and kept things tight in the opening period. They kept CIS Committee at bay but were unable to make the breakthrough themselves at the other end. There was a scare for Athletic Pasty when they conceded a rather harsh penalty for handball – the ball striking a defender's arm whilst he was on the floor. Justice was done when Dan Ablett saved Vitali Ledenev's strike. Half time score, 0-0.

In the second half CIS Committee made the vital breakthrough with Valeri Ivashka opening the scoring. Athletic Pasty came from a goal down in Round 1 and they were to repeat the feat in Round 2 as Joe Jackson equalised. It was game on!

It was not long before CIS Committee were back in front when Valeri Ivashka scored his second of the game for 2-1. Valeri Ivashka and Andrei Lauryk then had chances to extend the lead before Henadzi Nestsiuk made the game safe at 3-1. Maxim Livotchkin completed the scoring with a simple finish after a great passing move for a 4-1 win.

Fejlodes were back on the field next against Budapest Celtic Hoops. Both teams had lost narrowly in their opening game (both 1-0) so were looking to bounce back quickly and put some points on the Group B table.

It was 0-0 at half-time meaning these two teams had each gone 3 halves of football without scoring but all that was to change in the second half. The teams had clearly been saving up their goals as they shared five amongst them after the break.

Michael Gaal made it 1-0 to Fejlodes to put the team in red ahead. It was Michael Gaal again who doubled the advantage to make it 2-0. If Fejlodes thought they had the game won they would be mistaken as Joe Whaley pulled a goal back for Budapest Celtic Hoops. The two goal advantage was restored thanks to Nikita Petenko.

Budapest Celtic Hoops could not be shaken off though and they reduced the deficit to one goal again when Jason Clowes made it 3-2. There was barely time to re-start the game when the referee's final whistle blew. Fejlodes had done it – their first victory in eurofootballfives.com competition.

The game that would complete Round 2 was LMH FC against FC Broxelona B. LMH had the chance to go joint top with CIS Committee if they could make it 2 wins in 2 games. FC Broxelona B had taken a point from their opening encounter and if they could take three points from this game they would leapfrog their opponents into second position in the table.

FC Broxelona B were the team who took the early initiative and they took a first half lead through Luke Hoban. FC Broxelona B had been pegged back in their first game but they grabbed a vital second goal to extend the lead through Jason Ayton. It was 2-0 when the referee blew for half-time.

LMH FC had it all to do in the second half to rescue something from this game but they found a resolute FC Broxelona B defence thwarting their efforts to get back into it. Although FC Broxelona B were on debut they had goalkeeper Christopher Doyle in their ranks who played for Le Saux Solid Crew here last year – he kept his first clean sheet of the day to help his team see out a 2-0 win.

FC Broxelona B were in 2nd place on 4 points with LMH FC and Fejlodes just behind on 3 points in what was looking like it could be a close group.
