So, onto Round 5 we go and still plenty to play for in Group A. It was Beijing Rockets turn to take a breather in Round 4. They finished Round 3 at the top of Group A and would have been delighted to see they were still top at the start of Round 5 with their rivals all having used up a game. They currently lead the standings by two points and a fourth successive win would see them extend that lead again to 5 points.

They would meet JK Silvertown who came into this fixture on the back of a morale-boosting 4-0 victory. Despite just 1 defeat, they were in fifth position but could go second with a win and move within a point of Beijing Rockets.

This was a closely fought contest between the two orange-clad sides and ultimately just one goal would separate the teams. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Nick Signorello. It was his first goal of the day and what a crucial goal as it was the winner. It secured win #4 for Beijing Rockets as they maintained their 100% record.

Beijing Rockets had just moved onto 12 points at the top of Group A. AFC Blye Boys were their closest challengers on 7 points but now with a game in hand. That game in hand would be against Bure Park Seniors.

Earlier this year, AFC Blue Boys made their first Veterans appearance at the 2023 Mallorca Fives. It was another excellent group phase performance and they won their group with a perfect 100% record. They opened up with a 3-1 win over Ruta Uno FC of Wales before a sensational 2-1 win over 4-times eurofootballfives.com champions, FC Mahou. They then beat Peebles All Stars 8-0 before a 4-1 defeat of The Maulers. The Cup Quarter-Finals saw them play against Les 5 Salopards of France and they won 2-1. In the Semi-Finals they met FC Poloboc but missed out on a Cup Final for the second tournament in a row as they lost 2-1.

They could put themselves in a commanding position for Cup qualification with a win here but it was Bure Park Seniors who forged ahead. The English team were only a point behind AFC Blue Boys so could secure second with a win of their own. Jason Carr's goal put them on that path. AFC Blue Boys struck back and responded with a Marcin Zaluga goal. The Polish team then fully turned the game around as Lukasz Kowaluk provided the winner, 2-1.

The 15th game of Group A was Lucanos Locos versus TNF.

The wins for Beijing Rockets and AFC Blue Boys meant that third-placed Lucanos Locos could not improve on third place in this fixture. However, they needed the victory and 3 points to keep pace with those two teams above them. Anything less and they would be struggling to reach the Cup.

TNF experienced two narrow losses in their first two games but were on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline last time out. They needed a result to lift them off the foot of the table.

Lucanos Locos came into the game full of confidence with two wins from their last two games. Pawel Zablocki was the man of the moment in the early exchanges of this game as he scored twice to put his team 2-0 up. Jakub Kociemski made it 3-0 before Szymon Holona scored for the fourth game on the bounce to make it 4-0.

TNF had the final say with Joseph Pillai on target. Alas for TNF, it merely proved to be a consolation. Full time result, 4-1.
