Round 4 of Group A began with Atletico Funk in action again. They had so far struggled for results with one point from 3 games to show for their efforts so far. They were up against AFC Blue Boys in Game 10 of Group A.

AFC Blue Boys were competing here 12 months ago in the Open Age section at the 2022 Barcelona Fives. It was their second unbeaten group phase in our events and their first group win taking 13 points from a possible 15. They chalked up wins against Argon'ze of France (2-1), TBC FC (3-1), W London (1-0) and most impressively 4-1 against the defending champions, Club Esportiu Llefia. Only a 0-0 draw against Toe Punters prevented their 100% record. In the Quarter-Finals they drew 1-1 with 2008 champions Rapid Bosco Navas eventually winning on penalties. The Semi-Finals saw them miss out on the Cup Final as they went down 2-1 to FC Yol.

The Polish team had made a solid start to today's tournament with 4 points from 6 available. Tomasz Sieradzan ensured this good start would continue as he made it 1-0 to AFC Blue Boys. Grzegorz Sowinski then extended the lead to 2-0 as AFC Blue Boys were on their way to another 3 points. Goalkeeper Mariusz Kupisiak completed a clean sheet for his team as AFC Blue Boys moved up to second place in the table.

TNF would kick-off their third game from 7 th position in the table. It was quite harsh as they had two narrow 2-1 defeats so far and they happened to be against the teams who occupied the top two places at the end of Round 3. TNF had also played a game less than most of their rival teams so were perhaps in a false position in the table. There was still time for them to surge up the table but they needed to start with some points from this game.

Their opponents were JK Silvertown who made a steady start with two draws but had just tasted defeat for the first time to Bure Park Seniors. They really needed to win this one if they harboured hopes of reaching the Cup competition. JK Silvertown turned on the style in this one as they unlocked their cheat code in Chris Wright. He was the top scorer at the 2018 Amsterdam Fives with an impressive 12 goals. He found his scoring touch to see JK Silvertown race to a 2-0 lead in this. That opening double paved the way for Jamie Wallace and Niall Graham to add a third and a fourth as JK Silvertown completed a fine way. Tony Varghese kept a clean sheet and all was good in the JK Silvertown camp. It saw them rise from 5th to 4th in the table and close the gap to second place to just two points.

Game 12 of Group A was Bure Park Seniors versus Lucanos Locos. Bure Park Seniors were in second place at the end of Round 3. Results since then had seen them slip to third position but they had a chance to regain second place and even go top with the right result against Lucanos Locos. A win would see them go level on points with Beijing Rockets but likely second on goal difference.

Lucanos Locos had only played twice to date – a slender 3-2 defeat to AFC Blue Boys who were currently in second and a solid 3-0 win over Atletico Funk. A win for the Polish team would see them join Bure Park Seniors on 6 points and make it very congested at the top of a very competitive Group A.

Lucanos Locos hit the front, as they had now done in all three games, with Szymon Holona maintaining his record of scoring in every match so far. Daniel Kuty made it 2-0 and the points looked like they were heading to Lucanos. Bure Park Seniors had not given this tie up yet as Ozkar Calusi celebrated his second goal of the day.

A comeback was on the cards but it was not to be though for Bure Park Seniors as they were unable to rescue a point. Time ran out for them as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat. They saw their opponents leapfrog them in the table as the fell to fourth place. However, all was not lost – they were still just a point off the Cup qualifying places.
