With all teams having played twice it was World Pinteur Mature and Legends of the Vale who made their way to Pitch D. The two teams had drawn 1-1 when they met at the 2019 Budapest Veterans. Goals from Steve Finnis and Guillaume Sourd cancelled each other out that day.

Legends of the Vale were back at the scene of their greatest European triumph here in Mallorca. At the 2018 Mallorca Veterans, they had a positive start with a 1-1 draw against Policia Local de Palma (eventual champions) but then went down 1-0 to Bure Park Seniors. They then drew 0-0 with Peebles All Stars before their first win of the day (1-0) over Policia Local de Palma. Bure Park Seniors did for them 2-0 before another 0-0 draw with Peebles All Stars finished their campaign. They finished joint third in the table to qualify for the Plate.

In the Plate they drew 1-1 with Telferscot FC in the Semi-Finals. They progressed 1-0 via a penalty shoot-out. In the Plate Final they defeated Bure Park Old Boys 2-1 to end the tour victorious.

It had been a tough start in their first two games but things looked brighter at the end of the first half here. A Paul Burnham goal put the English team 1-0 up against the league leaders – the first to score against Benoit Botteau today. World Pinteur Mature were arguably the youngest Veterans team in the draw with Legends of the Vale arguably the oldest so this may well have proven to be a factor in the second half. Pierre Lachaud equalized before Anicet Owona's second goal of the day put the French ahead. Pierre Lachaud extended the lead to 3-1 before Maxime Durand completed the scoring.

There were three teams locked on 3 points in a congested mid-table in Group D. Two of those teams were Los Amblos and Southgate Tourists who would now meet face to face in the seventh game of the group.

These two teams had met twice before in our events – both in the group phase. At the 2016 Lisbon Tournament the two teams played out a 0-0 draw. Here in Mallorca a year later Southgate County won 2-1 with goals from Ken Middleton and Declan O'Leary outscoring Ade Chester's strike for Crabtree Amblers (now badged as Los Amblos).

6 years on from their last encounter it was Southgate Tourists who took the lead in the first half here with David Field the man on target. There was to be no further addition to the score until the second period when Mike Petevinos levelled for Los Amblos. Declan O'Leary scored what proved to be the winner when the two teams met here before and he was to prove the thorn in Los Amblos's side again when he struck the winner here.

Final score, Los Amblos 1-2 Southgate Tourists.

Match 8 in Group D saw Trojans (Spa) versus Legends of the Vale (Eng).

Trojans started off slowly with a 4-0 loss to World Pinteur Mature but struck back with an 8-3 win over Southgate Tourists. Unfortunately for Legends of the Vale it appeared that Trojans had settled into their stride. The English team had so performed well in the first halves of games – in fact, they hadn't conceded – with two 0-0s and a 1-0 lead. They had no answer to the Trojans early onslaught in this game though. Luis Fernandez scored twice either side of a Philip Schmadlah strike. A Steve Finnis goal before the break gave Legends of the Vale some hope though.

The goals kept coming though for Trojans in the second period as Oane Durdri Rijma in particular was doing damage to the Legends back line. He scored four after the break and Luis Fernandez claimed his hat-trick goal as Trojans extended the lead to 8-1. Steve Finnis again ended the half with a goal to make it 8-2 and take his tally to the day to 3.

Trojans moved up to second position in the table on goal difference.

The above result meant that a potential game between the top two was now a match between top of the table and third in the league standings. It was World Pinteur Mature (Fra) versus Southgate Tourists (Eng).

The French team needed just a point to secure the Group D title and round off a fine morning's work. Southgate Tourists were now in a two way tussle for the second Cup qualification space with Trojans. They had to better the Spanish team's result in their final game to go through. In theory, they could still finish above World Pinteur Mature with a win but the goal differences were such that this was highly unlikely.

The first half proved pretty even with the teams locked together at 1-1. Cameron Wallis's strike for Southgate Tourists cancelling out Pierre Lachaud's earlier opener for World Pinteur Mature. The second half of games in Group D were often decisive and so it proved in this game. World Pinteur moved ahead through Richard Leibovici before Maxime Durand extended the lead to two. Kevin Payet put the result beyond doubt at 4-1.

The French team had scored four goals in every group game and thoroughly deserved the Group D title. The result for Southgate Tourists meant they would almost certainly finish third and compete in the Plate.

Last but not least we come to Los Amblos versus Trojans. Currently Trojans were 2 nd on 6 points with +7 goal difference (16-9), Southgate Tourists were 3rd on 6 points with -6 goal difference (8-14) and Los Amblos were 4th on 3 points with goal difference of -4 (3-7). It meant that Los Amblos would climb up one place at lease with a victory. With a 6 goal win they could climb above Trojans and into second to claim a place in the Cup and emulate their feat of 6 years ago.

Trojans were in the box seat to finish in second though especially when you consider their form of the last two games which had seen them pick-up at 8-3 and 8-2 wins. They were in the goals again in the first half here with Oane Durdri Rijma scoring his sixth of the day and Luis Fernandez scoring his fifth. With the score 2-0 at half-time Trojans had effectively sealed the second Cup qualification place.

Los Amblos would qualify for the Plate regardless of this result but third place would give them a lift and, in theory, an easier Quarter-Final tie. Any hopes of a comeback though were snuffed out when Trojans made it 3-0 and subsequently 4-0. Oane Durdri Rijma and Luis Fernandez were each on target as they were in the opening period.

The group stage was now complete!
