Round 3 started with John Laing versus Argon'ze. Both of these teams had 100% records – 100% win record for John Laing, 100% draw record for Argon'ze. This would obviously have to change for one team (maybe both) by the end of this encounter.

For Argon'ze they had enjoyed a very solid start but, whilst they were unbeaten, too many draws can really hamper your progress up the table. They really needed to try and eek out that first win to surge up the table but John Laing were probably not the team they wanted to face to do that.

John Laing had scored six goals and conceded just the one so far this morning and they continued their good form in this fixture. They were making eurofootballfives.com life look easy as David Goodwin put his side 1-0 up. He was the match-winner against Beercalona (Ire) in Round 1 and his goals were helping John Laing to another 3 points. He scored a second in the game to make it 2-0 and with a second clean sheet in three games John Laing were on the march.

It was tough on Argon'ze who were beaten for the first time but saw themselves slip to sixth position in the table.

We went into Game 10 of Group C with Farcelona due to meet Leave It FC. We had two more 100% records – a 100% loss record for Farcelona and a 100% draw record for Leave It FC. As there were so many draws in the first two rounds of Group C it meant that Farcelona had not lost too much ground so if they could get a win here they would leapfrog their hitherto unbeaten opponents.

It was a much improved performance from Farcelona particularly in defence. They had shipped 9 goals in their first two games but were much more competitive here. Leave It FC had enjoyed two tight games and this would be a third. They were proving tough nuts to crack with just the one goal conceded but at the other end goals were not quite flowing.

Leave It FC were to find the back of the net here and it was a crucial goal. Rotimi Ibironke's second goal in as many games ultimately proved to be the only goal of the game. Rohan Koshai would go onto claim his second clean sheet in three games as Leave It FC went on to claim their first 3 points of the day. It was a win that saw them climb to third in the table.

For Farcelona it was a case of close but no cigar. Onwards and upwards.

Skackney FC were about to get underway on Pitch C for the second game in a row. Last time they were on this pitch they suffered 2-1 defeat to Elcombe Old Boys. This time their opponents would be Beercalona (Ire). The two teams had identical records of 1 draw, 1 loss and a -1 goal difference. Beercalona currently held the higher league placing as they had scored (and conceded) one more than their opponents.

Although this was still relatively early days in Group C you felt a win was a must to try and achieve qualification for the elite Cup competition or the second tier Plate competition when we went into the knockout phase of the tournament later today. You sensed this game could be pivotal for the respective team's fortunes over the rest of the group phase.

As we had seen with so many games in Group C this was another tight contest – and probably the tightest of all the four groups we'd seen so far. There was to be just the one goal in the game. Who would be the hero? Step forward Sam Harris of Skackney FC as it was your strike that proved to be the match-winner. It was a very important three points that saw Skackney FC share fourth position with Elcombe Old Boys.

The fourth game in Round 3 was arguably the tie of the round and it promised to be an intriguing contest as Me Toca Tirar entertaind Elcombe Old Boys.

We mentioned earlier that this was Elcombe Old Boys fourth Barcelona Fives in a row but this was their 6 th eurofootballfives.com tournament in total. They made a successful debut in the 2010 Algarve Open as Vodafone FC where they were drawn in the Group of Death and progressed to the final of the Plate competition. They emerged as worthy winners after a 3-2 victory. In the 2012 Mallorca Tournament, they entered two teams as Vodafone Rangers and Elcombe Old Boys. The latter finished 4th in their 6 team group and played in the Plate competition but were unable to emulate 2010 glory as they went down 2-0 in the Semi-Finals.

The 2013 Barcelona Fives was their joint best performance to date on the pitch where they topped their group with a 100% record. They won their Cup QF on penalties against Spain's ADP Allstars before a 3-1 loss in the Semi-Finals to the eventual winners, Los Swallacticos. The 2014 Barcelona Fives wasn't quite as successful as 3 draws in 4 games stunted their group progress which meant they qualified for the Trophy. From there they swept to glory with a 5-0 Quarter-Final win, 2-0 Semi-Final win and another 5-0 win over German side SV Zoo in the Final. They were back on Cup form at the 2015 Barcelona Fives winning Group D with a 100% record. In the knock-out phase they beat Rapid Bosco Navas in the Quarter-Final before a 1-1 draw in the Semi-Final against Ireland's Alabama Hotpockets. The game went to penalties and Elcombe Old Boys missed out 3-2 in the shoot-out.

On today's form, Me Toca Tirar and Elcombe Old Boys looked evenly matched both claiming 4 points from a possible 6. There was not much to separate the two teams on the pitch but separated they were. A solitary strike from Alejandro Del Hierro (his fifth of the tournament) was sufficient to give Me Toca Tirar all 3 points as they took sole occupancy of second place in the table.
