At the start of Round 2 we had Ealing Expendables versus Giggs Boson FC.

Ealing Expendables were making their third @eurofootball5's appearance. They kicked off their eurofootballfives.com journey at the 2014 Valencia Fives and made an impressive start to life in Europe. They won Group C with four wins from four games to qualify for the Cup competition. They emerged victorious from a 10-goal thriller in the Quarter-Finals seeing off Real L'Bourne 6-4. There were goals aplenty in their Semi-Final too but this time they were on the wrong end of a 7-3 scoreline to Spain's Penethinaikos.

They followed this up with an appearance at the 2015 Lisbon Tournament and drew a very tough group that featured the two finalists. They finished 4 th out of 6 to qualify for the Plate. A 3-0 QF win over PPB (Por) prefaced a 4-1 defeat to Shahs of Sunset (Eng) – who are also here in Barcelona (in Group D).

Both teams had a good start today, Ealing Expendables took a point off the defending champions whilst Giggs Boson secured a comprehensive 5-0 win.

Giggs Boson FC continued their form from the first game here as they made the initial breakthrough courtesy of Will Davis's third goal of the morning. It was 6 goals without reply for them but that was about to change. Ealing Expendables were pegged back to 1-1 in their first game but now it was them doing the pegging back. Their scorer in this one, as it was in the first game, was James Oldham.

There would be a winner and the man whose strike would earn 3 points for his team was Connor Lawson in the colours of Giggs Boson. A good win for them as they were the early pacesetters in Group A.

Naranjitos entered the eurofootballfives.com fold at the 2014 Valencia Fives. They started off slowly with a 3-2 defeat before bouncing back with 7-1 and 4-2 wins before a 2-2 draw saw them finish 3rd. They qualified for the Cup as one of the best 3 rd placed teams but went out at the Quarter-Final stage, 5-3, to the eventual winners – Sparta. At the 2014 Barcelona Fives and the 2015 Budapest Fives there was success for Naranjitos as they won the Plate competition at both events.

They made the journey from Valencia again to compete in the 2015 Barcelona Fives and look for a hat-trick of victories. They finished second in Group A with a haul of 7 points and qualified for the Plate. They drew 2-2 with compatriots Drunk Perfect but a 3-2 penalty shoot-out defeat saw them exit the tournament.

In 2016, Naranjitos were making a third successive Barcelona Fives appearance. They had begun well with a win over Irish opposition in Round 1 and would face Irish opposition again in Round 2. Real Sosobad had made a slow start to the tournament with a 5-0 defeat so would need to hit back.

Sadly for the Irish team this game went the way of the first as Naranjitos were merciless. The Spanish side hit their opponents for six (6-0) with goals coming from Javier Sanchez Flores (3), Miguel Angel Escutia Lozano, Mario Alvarez and Adrian Rodriguez Ortega.

Club Esportiu Llefia are the defending champions. They made their debut at the 2015 Barcelona Fives and it was quite a debut. They emerged from Group B as winners with 2 wins and 2 draws. They then embarked on a winning run to glory with a 3-2 Quarter-Final win over Walthamstow Warriors. A 4-0 Semi-Final win over North London in the Semi-Finals meant they would meet the Alabama Hotpockets in the Cup Final. It was a sensational performance in the Final that saw them run out 5-0 winners with a particularly strong second half. They also boasted the tournament's top goalscorer as Alfred Jimenez De Andres scored 9 in 7 games.

They continued their title defence against Leek High Boys. It had started steadily with a draw but with just 2 of the 8 teams qualifying for the Cup they needed wins. They were up against a team who had won their first game and this looked a tough proposition for the champions.

They made light work of the task ahead though as, on paper at least, it looked like a comfortable win. They had warmed up in the opening round and were now showing the form of champions as they secured a 4-0 win due to a double from David Martin Montes and a double from Alfred Jimenez de Andres.

When Mavericks made their eurofootballfives.com debut at the 2015 Algarve Open in Portugal last year they made a blistering start to life in Europe with a 3-0 win over Ireland's Depo Legends. This year they came into their second game on the back of a 1-0 defeat and they now came up against Irish opposition again in the form of Smithfields OAPs. Smithfields OAPs also entered the field of play on the back of a defeat (2-1 to Naranjitos). Who would show the best bouncebackability?

After the early exchanges it looked to be the team from Dublin. They took the lead for the first time today when Darren Harrington opened the scoring with his second strike of the day. Captain Dave O'Donohoe doubled the advantage as his goal made it 2-0. The result and points were sealed not long after when Darren Harrington turned in his second of the game to secure the 3-0 win.

The result moved Smithfields OAPs up to 5th place in the table and left Mavericks down in 7th.
