Round 2 started with Farcelona versus John Laing. It was a game between a team suffering defeat in their first game against a team who had enjoyed victory in the opening round of fixtures.

John Laing were the team who already had three points under their belts and they carried that momentum from their 2-1 win over Beercalona (Ire) into this fixture. Henry Otti got the ball rolling for John Laing and from there they never looked back. 1-0 became 2-0 when Steven Symes doubled his team's lead and Samuel Kesner then stretched the lead to 3-0.

John Laing were not done there as Niclas Lundquist rounded off the scoring with his first of the day to make it 4-0 and complete an emphatic win. 6 points from a possible 6 represented a superb start to life in eurofootballfives.com action.

The flip side of the coin is that Farcelona now had 2 defeats from 2 games but a glimpse of the table at the end of Round 2 would show they were only 2 points off fourth place so with 5 games to go all was far from lost.

Game 6 of Group C was to be Argon'ze (Fra) versus Beercalona (Ire). Both teams had played pretty well first time out but both were looking for their first win of the tournament. The French team took a good point from Elcombe Old Boys whilst Beercalona (Ire) only narrowly lost (2-1) to John Laing who were in the process of going top with a 100% record on Pitch A.

Argon'ze it was who took the lead in this one as Vincent Cafiero scored his team's first goal of the tournament. The French team were looking strong at the back as they were yet to concede in the tournament so that Cafiero goal could well get full value and 3 points for his team. Beercalona had other ideas though as Paul Sherlock equalized for the Irish team as he became the first man today to defeat Sebastien Malignon in the Argon'ze goal. It was Paul Sherlock's second goal in as many games so represented a fine start to the day for him.

The final score was 1-1. It was Argon'ze's second draw of the tournament as they crept up the table. Beercalona will have been pleased to register their first point on the board.

The next match on Pitch C in Group C was Leave It FC versus Me Toca Tirar. The previous game on this pitch in this group was a 0-0 draw between Elcombe Old Boys and Argon'ze so we were looking for goals. Leave It FC brought a 0-0 draw with them from their opening game so we were looking at Me Toca Tirar for goals – they put 5 past Farcelona and lead the embryonic table after Round 1.

Me Toca Tirar were joining us from Madrid which shows the reach of this tournament. Not only did we have travelling teams from England, France, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand (via the UK) and Northern Ireland here but we also had teams from across Spain. Madrid and Valencia were represented as well as the local teams from Barcelona. It was a great benefit to the tournament.

Me Toca Tirar continued their goal-scoring form from Round 1 and it was Nacho Monales who scored his first of the day. In his previous two eurofootballfives.com tournaments he had scored 14 (8 games) at the 2015 Mallorca Tournament and 8 (8) at the 2016 Algarve Open. He was up and running again here in Barcelona.

It would not be a match-winning strike though as Leave It FC broke their duck thanks to a strike from Rotimi Ibironke. The goal would earn another point for his team as the match finished 1-1. Leave It FC and Argon'ze were having a battle as the draw specialists after the early rounds of this tournament.

To complete Round 2 we had Elcombe Old Boys versus Skackney FC. These two teams had both had an identical start by picking up 0-0 draws from their opening fixtures. With two draws already in Round 2, John Laing would be licking their lips for another as they had secured a maximum 6 points from 6 at the top. In a group with so many draws, the 3 points for a win proved even more valuable – could either secure victory on Pitch D?

The good news (unless you were one of the goalkeepers) was we would get goals. Alan Ritchie scored his team's first of the tournament for Elcombe Old Boys before Scott Munro equalised for Skackney FC. There was to be a winner though – cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Marcus Faure. His strike put Elcombe Old Boys 2-1 up and see his team move up to a share of second place with Me Toca Tirar.
