With their first games under their belts it was Round 2 for all the teams in Group A and time to settle in to the tournament. Up next on Pitch 4 was FC Kicks versus FC Kicks in Group A's all-Netherlands encounter.

These two teams met face-to-face last year as the 2022 Amsterdam Sevens champions (Humble Goats) met the 2022 Amsterdam Fives champions (FC Kicks). It was a resounding win for Humble Goats on that occasion as goals from James van Zijveld, Wissam Albarho, Jazz Prins and an own goal helped them on their way to a 4-0 victory.

Today, both teams had opened up with a victory and were looking to kick on with their campaign. A win would see the victor top the Group A table. In what was an evenly matched first half neither team could find a successful path to goal and we reached half-time level at 0-0. The stalemate was eventually broken and it was Rafael Hernandez who scored the match winner. It was his second goal in as many games and it earned Humble Goats a 1-0 win.

FC Dad enter the 2023 Amsterdam Sixes as the most capped team on show in today's draw. They began their long association with our events at the 2011 Prague Masters and have travelled with us to Valencia, Lisbon (x2), Budapest, Barcelona (x3), Riga, Mallorca, Gdansk and Warsaw.

FC Dad were up against a Boca Seniors team who had one member of the squad who pre-dates even the FC Dad boys. Dan Ripley played in our 2nd tournament event way back in the 2007 Prague Masters for Kiwi side Fighting Pukekos. Today represented our 129 th tournament in Europe so 127 tournaments and 16 years represents the largest gap between appearances in our history.

The match proved to be a hard-fought encounter, with both teams showcasing their defensive resilience and keeping clean sheets. FC Dad, coming off a previous draw in the tournament, sought to claim their first victory, while Boca Seniors aimed to secure their first point after a defeat in their opening match.

Both goalkeepers, Chris Breen for FC Dad and Dan Ripley for Boca Seniors, displayed exceptional performances throughout the match. Their shot-stopping abilities and command of their respective penalty areas ensured that neither team managed to find the back of the net. The final whistle blew, and FC Dad and Boca Seniors had to settle for a hard-fought 0-0 draw.

FLA and Santos Lagoon Squad clashed in an exhilarating encounter in the final game of Round 2. FLA dominated the match, securing a convincing 3-0 victory over their opponents. The win propelled FLA to second place in the league standings, while Santos Lagoon Squad remained in sixth.

From the opening whistle, FLA demonstrated their attacking intent, pushing forward with purpose. They controlled possession, showcasing their fluid passing and tactical acumen. Santos Lagoon Squad, on the other hand, aimed to stay organized and weather the attacking storm.

FLA's pressure paid off when Luke Masih struck, giving his team a well-deserved 1-0 lead. The defensive resilience of Santos Lagoon Squad prevented further goals, and the half-time score remained 1-0.

FLA continued their attacking prowess with Tim Robinson finding the back of the net, increasing FLA's lead to 2-0. Later, Jac Evans sealed the victory for FLA with a well-taken goal, making it 3-0. The goal ignited celebrations among the FLA faithful, solidifying their position in the match.

Santos Lagoon Squad fought bravely but struggled to break through FLA's resolute defense. With the final score at 3-0, FLA claimed a convincing victory and moved up to second place in the league standings.
