We arrived at the Plate Quarter-Finals with two teams earning a bye straight to the Semi-Finals courtesy of their superior finishes in the group stages. Those teams were Brighton & Hove Rockets and CEPL. The remaining four teams would need to progress on the pitch.

We started on Pitch B with Ireland's Deportivo Dooradoyle taking on Wales' Goals Aloud. The match represented Group B's 5th placed team versus Group A's 6th placed side.

Deportivo Dooradoyle had started the day slowly but had gradually warmed to eurofootballfives action and were steadily improving. Goals Aloud were beautifully inconsistent but always vastly entertaining and there were nearly always plenty of goals.

The stakes were higher in this fixture and it was a slower opening with just the one goal in the first half which was claimed by Mike Kelliher for Deportivo. In the second half it was normal service resumed with the goals flying in. Adam Davies bagged two for Goals Aloud but Mike Kelliher matched his scoring prowess with two of his own to complete a hat-trick. It meant that Deportivo Dooradoyle would go through to the Plate Semi-Finals with a hard fought 3-2 victory.

Sadly, it was the end of the day for Goals Aloud (on the pitch anyway). We looked forward to seeing them at the post-tournament social and hopefully on tour again in the future.

The second Semi-Final saw Rigford Seahawks Omega pit their wits against AAK S&S. Rigford Seahawks Omega had only just missed out on the Cup competition at the final hurdle so would need to put that behind them and focus on the task at hand. Having previously won a Plate trophy (2009 Prague Trophy) they knew exactly what they needed to do.

AAK S&S were on a bad run of results following two opening wins with four successive defeats. Could they stop the rot at just the right time to re-launch a bid for European silverware.

When the opening goal came it was perhaps no surprise, given the form-book, that it went to the Seahawks as Rich Clements gave his side a 1-0 lead at the break. In the second half the Rigford Seahawks showed AAK S&S no mercy whatsoever as they booked their place in the Semi-Finals in convincing fashion.

There was a second goal for Rich Clements, two strikes from Clark Brady and one from Tom Hallam. AAK S&S could not respond as Rigford Seahawks Omega ran out 5-0 victors.
