The final team in Group A to get their challenge underway was Inter Woman. They were making their first appearance in our tournaments and we would get our first look at them as they took on Brighton and Hove Rockets on Pitch A.

For the Rockets it was a case of déjà vu as for the second game running they got off to a slow start and found themselves 2-0 down at the interval. David Foran scored the first goal of the day for Inter before captain Michael Hanley made it 2-0. In their opening game Brighton & Hove Rockets has staged a second-half comeback and almost turned round a 3-0 deficit. They would be looking for the same reaction in this match.

Whilst the second-half was an improved performance it did not bring the goals they needed and Daniel Giles clean sheet for Inter Women ensured it would be an opening victory for his team. It was the perfect start for Inter Women, Brighton & Hove Rockets though were looking to kickstart their campaign.

Pitch B in Round 2 saw Goals Aloud of Wales take on GBS Reds of Czech Republic. The Welsh side were looking to make it two wins out of two which would see them go top of the table. GBS Reds were looking to bounce back from an opening game defeat and register their first points of the day.

What we saw was a stunning first-half performance from the Czechs who raced into a 4-0 lead with Radim Steiner claiming a hat-trick and Ian Smitton scoring his first goal of the day. The game was all but over unless Goals Aloud could manage a massive shift of momentum and stage the mother of all comebacks. That task looked increasingly unlikely when Wilco Veldhuizen made it 5-0 to GBS Reds and round off a superb victory. In fact, the margin of victory put GBS Reds top of Group A on goal-difference as the game on Pitch C was going there way too.

On Pitch C, we had a similar situation to Pitch B whereby Dutch side CEPL were looking to make it two wins out of two to go top and Rigford Seahawks Alpha were looking to bounce back from an opening game defeat and register their first points on the scoreboard.

We also saw a similar pattern of play on the pitch where the team looking to bounce back from first game defeat established a commanding first-half lead. Rigford Seahawks had forged a 4-1 lead by the break as the goals rained in. The scoring continued in the second period but the Seahawks had done enough to keep their opponents at bay as they ran out 5-3 victors. The result meant we had a 6-way tie in Group A with 6 teams on 3 points only separated by goal difference.

The goalscorers in the game were Wayne Hayes (2), Ben Kent (2) and Max Eagle for the Seahawks Alpha squad with Mailo Brown (2) and Rakesh Dewoe grabbing the goals for CEPL.
