The
opening half was a cagey affair. Perhaps it was
nerves, perhaps fatigue, but defences were on
top with little to separate the sides. FC Tpaktop
B looked to extend their unbeaten run to four
games and were disciplined in shape. Meanwhile,
Missing Magpies—buoyed by their earlier performances
and the firepower of Michael Pyper—waited patiently
for the breakthrough.
After
the break, the game burst into life. Pyper was
the talisman and proved why he's been one of the
tournament's standout forwards, bagging a second-half
hat-trick to take his tally to 8 goals—good enough
for second in the Golden Boot race. Tom Campbell
added a fourth for the Magpies as they turned
the screw. FC Tpaktop B did have their moment
when Vitaly Sivolobov found the net, a personal
highlight in a European final, but it was ultimately
a mere consolation.
At
full time, the scoreboard read 4-1 to the English
side. It was a dominant second-half display and
a fully deserved Plate title for Missing Magpies—
their first trophy on the eurofootballfives.com
circuit and long overdue 13 years after their
debut.
Whilst
it wasn't the ending they had hoped for, FC Tpaktop
B can hold their heads high after a strong showing
in Porto. Reaching a European final is no small
feat, and they navigated a competitive Group B
and a tough Plate Semi-Final to get there. They
may have fallen just short of silverware this
time, but their campaign was full of positives
and lays a strong foundation for future tournaments.
The experience gained will only make them stronger
contenders next time out.
Missing
Magpies had come into the tournament as an experienced
team with a strong pedigree, but this time, they
went one step further. While Michael Pyper had
been their top scorer with eight goals throughout
the day, it was the combined efforts of the whole
team from defence through to attack, that propelled
them to victory in the latter stages of this tournament.
It was a fully deserved triumph and proud moment
for the team.
Huge
congratulations go to our 2025 Porto Veterans
Plate champions – Missing Magpies.
