It was Cup Final time in Porto. After 25 games of football we came down to the most important of them all. Game 26, the match that would determine the 2025 Porto Veterans champions. Who would be celebrating as the tournament reached its conclusion?

This is how we lined-up:

FC Poloboc (Mda)

Best appearance to date: 2023 Barcelona Veterans, 2024 Prague Veterans – winners.

Record today: Played 5, Won 5, Drawn 0, Lost 0.

Goal difference today: 19-1

Current unbeaten run: 20 games (dating back to Barcelona 2023)

Today's top goalscorer: Leonid Cigreanu & Gheorghe Bulatel (4)

Clean sheets: 4

Juventude Desportivo Gaia (Por)

Best appearance to date: Debut

Record today: Played 5, Won 5, Drawn 0, Lost 0.

Goal difference today: 12-5

Current unbeaten run: 6 games.

Today's top goalscorer: Daniel Videira

Clean sheets: 1

This promised to be a fascinating game – it was the two outstanding teams in the tournament with both boasting a 100% winning record today. The stats marked out FC Poloboc as the favourites with the most goals scored, fewest conceded, most clean sheets and best goal difference. However, Juventude Desportivo Gaia could call upon the top scorer in the tournament – Daniel Videira. He had 9 goals so far and with a talent like that who knows what could happen in this Cup Final.

The Portuguese team were on debut and looking to make it a first title. FC Poloboc were competing in their fourth tournament and looking to win a third trophy. If they could then they would become the most successful team in our Veterans history. They would nudge ahead of FC Mahou and Mini FC who currently also sat on two titles.

The final was a tense and high-quality affair from the first whistle, with little to separate the sides in a goalless first half. The defences stood firm, goalkeepers earned their keep, and both sets of supporters held their breath. The teams changed ends and now only had one half of football to determine their destiny in this competition.

But if there's one thing FC Poloboc have proven over recent years, it's that they know how to deliver in big moments. And once again, Leonid Cigureanu proved to be the man for the occasion. The 2024 Prague Golden Boot winner stepped up once more, scoring both goals in the second half to seal a 2-0 victory and fire FC Poloboc to back-to-back-to-back Veterans titles.

Our commiserations go to Juventude Desportivo Gaia who had played well today but were unable to find a way through the Moldovan wall! It was a great debut from the Portuguese – on another day, against different opposition they may well have been walking off with the trophy. It was not to be today though.

There was some consolation that they claimed the personal honours of the day with Daniel Videira's superb tally of 9 goals seeing him crowned as tournament top scorer. Many congratulations to him.

Congratulations to FC Poloboc on another remarkable triumph at the 2025 Porto Veterans! They add the Porto trophy to those they won in Barcelona and Prague. Their journey to the title was built on a perfect blend of resolute defending, sharp attacking play, and unyielding determination. It was their second invincible tournament (Prague also) but today was their first with a 100% record. They just keep getting better and better! They demonstrated their quality at every stage against some strong opposition. Their 2-0 victory in the final was the culmination of an outstanding campaign, and they can take immense pride in lifting the Cup after such a disciplined performance. They were popular winners and it was fantastic to see all the guys again. Who would bet against them winning a 4th title in the future?
