The knockout phase of the 2025 Lisbon Fives Tournament saw teams split into two competitions: the Cup for the top eight teams and the Plate for the remaining seven. In the Plate competition, Bendeeca advanced automatically from the first quarter-final due to receiving a bye. This was their reward for finishing third place in their group. The teams finishing fourth and fifth in each group would now meet to see who would join Bendeeca in the Semi-Finals.

The first quarter-final match played on the field featured AC Motxto International against RAF1 as fifth in Group A met fourth in Group B. The Spanish team had met RAF2 in the group phase and drawn 1-1. If the RAF teams were hierarchical then this match would be a tougher proposition.

RAF1 took the lead in the first half when Rodrigo Mourao found the back of the net, giving them a 1-0 advantage. Rafael Santos scored a hat-trick earlier in the day and he made it 2-0 before Joao Fernandes made it 3-0 by half-time. The second half continued in a similar pattern with Goncalo Fernandes making it 4-0. Tiago Sousa finished the job for RAF1 with two goals as he completed a resounding a 6-0 victory for the Portuguese. The result ended AC Motxto's run in the Plate competition. We'd like to thank AC Motxto International for competing and making the journey from Madrid, whilst results on the pitch didn't go their way, we hope they still had a fantastic time in Lisbon. We hope to see them in Barcelona later this year.

Plate Quarter-Final 3 was Dumpling CF versus Solly March FC. These were two teams who were well acquainted with the Plate competition. The former were in this competition for the third team having gone out at this stage at the 2023 Barcelona Fives and the Semi-Final stage as the 2024 Mallorca Fives.

Solly March FC had competed in the Plate in 7 of their last 8 tournament appearances. They had 1 Quarter-Final exit, 4 Semi-Final exits and reached the final on two occasions. At the 2016 Prague Tournament they lost 5-1 to Frank Hirth in the final. At the 2017 Amsterdam Fives they were even closer – they drew 3-3 with SC Sylt of Germany but missed out on the title via penalties (2-0).

Back to the present and the 2025 Lisbon Tournament and it was a close encounter of the 1-1 kind in the first half. Danny O'Neill, who scored in that Amsterdam final, was on target for Solly March FC but his goal was cancelled out by Dan O'Mahony's strike for Dumpling CF. In the second half Gurvinder Bura struck for Dumpling CF to put his side 2-1 ahead. Solly March FC put everything into recovering the situation and finding an elusive equalizer but Dumpling CF defended resolutely to kill the game off and progress to the next round.

The final Plate Quarter-Final brought together two familiar foes as Montenelas FC and RAF2 met in an all-Portuguese clash steeped in recent history. These sides had crossed paths at the business end of the 2022 Lisbon Tournament, when RAF2 emerged 4-2 winners in a high-scoring Cup Quarter-Final. This time, they met in the Plate competition with pride, progress, and a touch of revenge all on the line. Montenelas FC, who had endured a difficult group stage, were eager to show their pedigree and bounce back with a statement performance.

RAF2 looked on course for another triumph as they flew out of the blocks with real intensity. Diogo Arsenio struck first to give them an early lead, and when Cristiano Silva doubled the advantage, it seemed like history might repeat itself. But Montenelas FC, despite trailing 2-0, didn't panic. They grew into the game and began to assert control. A well-taken goal from Leandro Teixeira halved the deficit and gave them a foothold, before Ricardo Peres finished a sharp move to level the game before the break.

With the scores locked at 2-2 heading into the second half, both teams knew one goal could decide it. The tension was high, and chances came at both ends, but it was Montenelas who found the decisive moment. Ayrton Luz stepped up with a composed finish to make it 3-2 and complete a stirring comeback. Montenelas FC had not only avenged their defeat from two years earlier but did so in dramatic fashion to book their spot in the Plate Semi-Finals. It was a performance that showed their resilience, quality, and determination to finish the tournament on a high.
