RAF1 and Montenelas FC met in the Plate Final with both teams carrying impressive momentum into the fixture. RAF1 were appearing in their third Plate Final and had a perfect record in the previous two, having lifted the trophy at the 2019 Lisbon Tournament and the 2024 Mallorca Fives. Montenelas FC, meanwhile, were in their first ever final and had already shown their resilience by knocking out RAF2 in the Quarter-Finals. The question was: could they complete the double over the RAF teams?

In terms of statistics, both sides had won 3 and lost 3. However, a quick look behind those results showed RAF1 as clear favourites. RAF1 were the stronger team going forward with more goals, but only just. Defensively RAF1 were certainly the stronger with 3 clean sheets and just 6 conceded. Montenelas FC had conceded in all 6 games and 13 in total. Could this be where the Plate Final was won or lost?

RAF1 were sharp from the outset and asserted early control. Rodrigo Mourao opened the scoring in the first half, giving RAF1 a deserved 1-0 lead at the break. Shortly after the restart, Diogo Arsenio doubled the advantage with a composed finish. Montenelas FC had come from 2-0 down in the Quarter-Final and looked to repeat that comeback, but RAF1 were in no mood to let this one slip.

Instead, RAF1 pressed on. Diogo Arsenio struck again for his second of the game, stretching the lead to 3-0 and effectively putting the game out of reach. Any remaining doubt was erased when Joao Fernandes added a fourth to seal a dominant 4-0 win.

It was a superb all-round performance from RAF1, who lifted the Plate title for the third time and reinforced their reputation as one of the strongest teams in the competition's second-tier honours. Montenelas FC could reflect with pride on a spirited campaign, but it was RAF1 who once again emerged with silverware.

First of all, we offer our consolations to Montenelas FC on a fine second half to their campaign.

Huge congratulations go to our 2025 Lisbon Tournament Plate champions – RAF1.
