It
was third versus fourth at the start of Round
3 as VNV (NL) would meet Northern Town (Eng).
Both teams had 1 win and 1 loss to their names
as they occupied the mid-table positions. A
win here would give the victor a share of the
lead at the top of Group B, temporarily at least.
VNV
came into the game on the back of a victory
so perhaps they had the momentum coming into
the fixture. However, that was wrestled away
from them as Northern Town made the initial
breakthrough. Campbell McAuley was the man with
the goal to put the English team into the ascendency.
The
second half kicked off with Northern Town still
1-0 ahead. Could VNV force their way back into
this? If they were they would need to find a
way past Stephen Brennan who had an impressive
3 clean sheets in 8 games at the 2018 Gdansk
Tournament (a higher scoring event with larger
goals). There was no way past the shot stopper
who went on to complete his second clean sheet
in 3 games here in Barcelona.
With
that, Northern Town had their second win of
the day. Full-time, 1-0.
