Group B began with a team very familiar to eurofootballfives.com competition: CIS Committee. They were making their 8th eurofootballfives.com appearance and they were our joint most successful team. They had won 4 of the tournaments they had participated in. If they could win here in Amsterdam they would become sole occupants to the claim of most successful team in our history.

They were drawn against Top Bunners in the first game of Round B. This was quite some baptism of fire for the English team. There was probably not a harder debut game on our circuit.

CIS Committee wasted no time in moving into top gear. They showed they were in determined mood right from the start. Aleh Harbenka scored their first of the day and they never looked back. Aliaksandr Viazhevich made it 2-0 before Alexander Bogaichuk made it 3-0. That was half-time.

In the second period Aleh Harbenka and Aliaksandr Viazhevich made it 5-0. Top Bunners should console themselves that all games would not be this tough.

Match 2 was due to be FC Supercharged taking on Brewin Dolpihn. FC Supercharged were the corporate team representing Tesla but due to work pressures they had to cancel in the week building up to the tournament. We were therefore very grateful to SDZ3 who stepped in at the last minute to take their place in the tournament draw. The local Dutch team were on debut in our tournaments.

Brewin Dolphin were making their second appearance in our tournaments after making their debut at our 2017 Lisbon Tournament. They went all the way to the Plate Final in Portugal so would this be another successful sojourn to the continent.

SDZ3 proved they were more than able deputies for FC Supercharged as they put Brewin Dolphin to the sword. The Dutch were even more ruthless here than the team from Belarus in the previous game. Guy Schouter scored the opening goal before Roger Van Der Zwan (x2) and Barbossa made it 4-0. The teams changed ends and SDZ3 piled on the agony. Luigi Janssen made it 5-0 before a double from Roy Schouter made it 7-0. Barbossa scored again for 8-0 before Roger Van der Zwan completed the scoring at 9-0 before the full-time whistle came to the English team's rescue.

Match 3 was to be Horse and Trumpet FC taking on FC Gijon in an all English encounter. Sadly, Horse and Trumpet FC were a no-show though which was a letdown for everyone. FC Gijon picked up a 3-0 walkover although I am sure they would have much preferred to collect the points on the pitch. This was particularly disappointing as we had a waiting list for the tournament so if we had known in advance we could have replaced them but a no-show on the day of the tournament obviously spoils it for the remaining teams in the group. We can only apologise, by proxy, for the cancelled team.
