We arrived at the Plate Quarter-Final stage and we would shortly see eight teams reduced to four teams. KPN Digital would meet Scotty Doesn't Know. The pre-determined draw meant the 3rd best 3rd placed team would meet the best 6th placed team with the former being KPN Digital. They would be favourites going into this game.

Scotty Doesn't Know could not be written off though as they performed well in what was a tough group. The English team also had players in their squad who had reached the Plate Final at both the 2016 Prague Tournament and the 2017 Amsterdam Fives just 12 months ago.

With it being a third versus sixth placed team many though this could be one-sided. We thought this might be closer than many expected but we were wrong – particularly in the first half. KPN Digital came out for the knock-out phase firing on all cylinders. The game was done and dusted by half-time as the Dutch had opened up a 4-0 lead. Things eased up a little in the second half but the damage had already been done. It finished 5-0 at full time.

Quirijn Meuleberg got the ball rolling before a hat-trick from Bilal Taouil and Sergio Tovar. KPN Digital were through.

The second quarter-final was an intriguing affair as Some Like It Scott met Drop It Like It's Scott. The game was a derby match between two of the three “Scott” squads in the tournament. It is not often teams from the same club meet in eurofootballfives competition but when they do it often has a strange atmosphere – sometimes the games can lack a little intensity or sometimes the games can have a bit too much intensity with players determined not to lose to their tour-mates.

One thing was for sure that the Scott Jessop stag group would have a team in the Semi-Finals and that bragging rights were at stake for the rest of the Amsterdam tour weekend and beyond. The two squads had identical group records with both producing 2 wins and suffering 3 defeats in the group phase. As with most derbies the form book went out the window and Drop It Like It's Scott raised their game.

In the end one man would decide the tie in the goal-scoring stakes. That goalscorer, who would became a hero to half his mates and a scourge to the others, was Joe Lazell. His goal meant Drop It Like It's Scott would play KPN Digital in the first Plate Semi-Final.

Quarter-Final 3 was LMH FC versus La Morte O I Gladioli. This was the team in fourth place from Group B playing the fifth place team from Group C.

La Morte O I Gladioli were on their debut in our tournaments so they were breaking new ground with every coming game. LMH FC were no strangers to our Plate tournament having won this competition at the 2017 Vilnius Tournament. They were bidding to become the 11 th team to win more than 1 Plate competition in our events.

The game was relatively close in the first half. Just the one goal separated the two teams with LMH FC edging it. Rex Worth was the man who grabbed the goal. After the break LMH FC stretched away from their opponents with Billy Henson scoring his team's second. Simon Lewis added a double to put the game beyond doubt.

There was a goal for Riemer Van De Velde who took his personal tally to 5 for the tournament. Sadly for him and his team it would be their last goal of the day.

Three Quarter-Finals down, one to go as Cheesefake would play SC Sylt.

Both these teams reached this stage of the tournament with quite different results. SC Sylt won their Quarter-Final 9-1 versus Team Koopman (Hol) en route to going on to lift the Plate title. Cheesefake FC ended up losing 7-4 to Shaolin Soccer (Hol).

These two teams also met last year in the group phase. In their final game of Group B, SC Sylt emerged victorious 5-3. Could Cheesefake FC exact their revenge?

It didn't look likely as the German team raced into a 4-0 lead. Christian Siegmund made it 1-0 before two goals from Rene Reizammer took his tally to 7 for the day. At 3-0 Cheesefake FC gave them a helping hand with an own goal.

After the break Cheesfake FC found their feet a little with Jelte Huizing and Kristian Schulz scoring twice each. SC Sylt always had just enough in the tank though as Marvin Gunther and Sebastian Kraus goals proved enough, 6-4. It was the highest scoring game of the tournament.
