Alea Iacta Est (Pol) made a strong debut in our tournaments when they competed at the 2018 Gdansk Tournament. They began with a 2-2 draw against FC Foreigntina before claiming their first win (3-2) over Spider Mans & Eagle. Two more wins followed, both 1-0, over England's FC Dad and Ireland's Hotpockets. They completed the group phase with a 1-1 draw against Freshers FC that saw them finish second in the table on goal difference. They qualified for the Cup but went out 2-0 to Bulota PK at the Quarter-Final stage. If they had won that game they would have played The A Team….

The A Team (Fra) were playing their 7th eurofootballfives.com tournament at the 2018 Gdansk Tournament. They produced 4 wins and 1 draw from their group games scoring 10 goals and conceding just 1. In the Cup Quarter-Finals they defeated RAF Fylingdales 2-1 to play against Buloto PK. Like Alea Iacta Est, The A Team succumbed to Bulota PK as they went out 4-1.

Today, Alea Iacta Est had enjoyed the more successful start. They were unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw and topped the table on goal difference. The A Team had to win their last two games to give them a chance of reaching the Cup following two defeats in their opening three fixtures.

In the end a single goal decided this fixture – it was a first half goal from Walid that secured all 3 points for The A Team. It was a blow to Alea Iacta Est, a lifeline for the A Team and a boost for Yac Club watching on.

Yac Club were up next and were up against Sutton on Tour. Yac Club were joint top of the table on points but second on goal difference. Following Alea Iacta Est's defeat they now had a game in hand – if they won it they would have one foot in the Cup competition.

Sutton on Tour had started slowly with two defeats from their first two but were much more competitive in their third game which sadly, for them, also ended in defeat. They were up against it as they faced the league leaders but we have seen shocks where 6 th placed teams have beaten 1 st placed teams before – could Sutton on Tour spring a surprise?

Sutton on Tour gave as good as they got in the opening period as the two teams reached half-time, 0-0. At the start of the second half Sutton on Tour also got their noses in front as David Dunkling struck the post. It was a let off for Yac Club who made their opponents pay as Dave Netherway kept up his record of scoring in every game. It was goal #4 for him and 1-0 win #3 for Yac Club. Yac Club had opened up a 3 point lead at the top of the table.

Game 12 of Group A was FC Dad versus Boca Seniors Warsaw. FC Dad came into this game on the back of their first win of the day, 1-0 v Sutton on Tour. Could they build on that as they sought a place in the Plate competition. Boca Seniors Warsaw currently sat in fourth position but a win would see them move into second place and put them in control of their own destiny to qualify for the Cup.

At this juncture we would like to draw attention to FC Dad and congratulate them for reaching their 10th tour with us. It is a journey that began at the 2011 Prague Masters and has taken them to Valencia, Lisbon, Budapest, Barcelona (x2), Riga, Mallorca, Gdansk and now Warsaw. We would like to thank them for their support of our events over the years. They are the joint 11 th team to reach this feat (Red Cow Belgrade also achieve this here in Warsaw).

Back to the action here in Warsaw and it was the two defences who were on top. The first half came and went with no score. The second half also came and went with the scorers untroubled. Final score, 0-0 – goalkeepers and defences on top.
