The
knockout phase of the 2026 Mallorca Fives began
with the Plate quarter-finals. With seven teams
involved in the competition, one side received
a bye straight through to the semi-finals. That
honour went to The Vic FC after they finished
third in Group C. The remaining quarter-finals
would all be contested between the teams who had
finished fourth and fifth in their respective
groups. First up was Sutton On Tour, who finished
fifth in Group A, against Sheffield Thursday Blue,
who ended Group B in fourth place. The reward
for the winners would be a semi-final showdown
with The Vic FC.
Sheffield
Thursday Blue settled into the game quickly and
immediately looked the sharper of the two teams.
Their pressure paid off when Jack Hayes opened
the scoring to put the Yorkshire side 1-0 ahead.
From there, they grew stronger and stronger in
attack. Joe Morris took centre stage with two
excellent goals before the interval, taking his
personal tally for the tournament to four and
giving Sheffield Thursday Blue a commanding 3-0
lead at half-time. Sutton On Tour battled hard
throughout the opening period but struggled to
contain the movement and energy of their opponents.
The
second half continued in much the same fashion
as Sheffield Thursday Blue maintained complete
control of proceedings. Alex Archer added a fourth
goal before Cameron Robertson got in on the act
to make it 5-0. With Sutton On Tour tiring, Sheffield
Thursday Blue continued to push forward and round
off an impressive display in style. Daniel Easton
scored the sixth and final goal of the contest,
taking his own tournament tally to five goals
and underlining the attacking threat Sheffield
Thursday Blue carried throughout the game. Defensively,
they were equally solid, keeping Sutton On Tour
at bay and recording an emphatic clean sheet.
At
full-time, Sheffield Thursday Blue celebrated
a comprehensive 6-0 victory and booked their place
in the Plate semi-finals against The Vic FC. It
was arguably their best performance of the day
so far, combining clinical finishing with disciplined
defending and excellent teamwork throughout. For
Sutton On Tour, it marked the end of a difficult
tournament campaign, but they continued to compete
with good spirit despite the challenging results.
Sheffield Thursday Blue, meanwhile, carried real
momentum forward into the knockout stages and
suddenly looked like genuine contenders for the
Plate title.

The
second Plate quarter-final saw Wentworth Arms
B take on Morocco Team with a place in the semi-finals
at stake. Wentworth Arms B were still searching
for their first point of the tournament after
a difficult group campaign, but knockout football
always offers teams the opportunity for a fresh
start and a chance to turn momentum around. Morocco
Team, meanwhile, had shown signs of promise throughout
the group phase. They finished with one win, one
draw and two defeats, while their defensive record
of just six goals conceded was among the better
returns in the competition. Their biggest challenge
had been converting chances into goals — something
they would emphatically put right in this fixture.
Morocco
Team made a bright start and quickly showed far
greater confidence in the final third. Ossama
continued the good form he had shown in the final
group game by opening the scoring to put the Moroccans
1-0 ahead. That goal settled the side, and they
soon doubled their advantage through Mohamed Esseret,
whose finish capped an excellent first-half display.
Wentworth Arms B worked hard to stay in the contest,
but Morocco Team controlled proceedings well and
deservedly took a 2-0 lead into the half-time
interval.
The
second half saw Morocco Team continue to dictate
the game with disciplined defending and increasingly
dangerous attacking play. Mohamed Esseret struck
again after the break to make it 3-0 and effectively
place one foot in the semi-finals. Wentworth Arms
B continued to battle and looked to salvage something
from the tie, but Morocco remained organised at
the back and rarely looked troubled. The result
was then wrapped up in style when Wahid Sadi added
the fourth goal to complete a comprehensive and
confident victory for the North African side.
At
full-time, Morocco Team celebrated an impressive
4-0 triumph to secure their place in the Plate
semi-finals. It was their most complete performance
of the tournament so far, combining defensive
solidity with clinical finishing in attack. After
struggling for goals during the group stage, they
had suddenly found their scoring touch at exactly
the right moment. For Wentworth Arms B, meanwhile,
it brought a difficult tournament campaign to
an end, but credit should go to them for continuing
to compete with determination throughout the day
despite the challenging results. |

The
final Plate quarter-final saw Sheffield Thursday
Navy face Old Salesians in a contest that, on
paper, appeared to favour the English debutants
from Group A. Sheffield Thursday Navy had endured
a difficult group campaign, finishing bottom of
Group C with one draw and three defeats. Old Salesians,
meanwhile, arguably arrived with the strongest
group-stage record of any side in the Plate competition
apart from The Vic FC. With one win, two draws
and only one defeat, Old Salesians looked well
placed to mount a serious challenge for the trophy.
Despite
the pre-match expectations, it was Sheffield Thursday
Navy who started the stronger of the two sides.
They showed far greater attacking intent than
they had during much of the group phase and were
rewarded when Sam Morris opened the scoring to
put them 1-0 ahead. That goal lifted confidence
throughout the side and they continued to press
forward with energy and purpose. Before the break,
Cameron Robinson doubled the lead to give Sheffield
Thursday Navy a superb 2-0 advantage at half-time
and leave Old Salesians with plenty of work to
do in the second period.
Old
Salesians responded positively after the interval
and pushed hard to get themselves back into the
contest. Their persistence was rewarded when Max
Sudell reduced the deficit to 2-1, setting up
a tense finish as they searched for an equaliser.
Sheffield Thursday Navy, however, defended with
determination and resilience, standing firm under
pressure and refusing to surrender their advantage.
The defensive effort was particularly impressive
given the challenges they had faced earlier in
the day, and they successfully held out through
the closing stages to secure the victory.
At
full-time, Sheffield Thursday Navy celebrated
a hard-earned 2-1 win and, remarkably, their first
victory of the tournament was enough to send them
through to the Plate semi-finals. It was an excellent
response after a difficult group campaign and
showed the unpredictable nature of knockout football.
For Old Salesians, the result was a disappointing
end to a generally solid day's work. Sheffield
Thursday Navy, though, had seized their opportunity
and carried valuable momentum into the final four.
