Mallorca
is the best known and largest of the Balearic
Islands in the Mediterranean. It is a very beautiful
island with stunning scenery. There are wooded
hillsides, towering mountains, gentle valleys,
olive groves, ancient towns and villages, sheltered
bays and marvellous sandy beaches. Mallorcas
inclusive holiday tourism started in the early
1960s and they are still ahead with ideas and
improvements. Mistakes that were made in the
sixties or seventies have been rectified with
many of the resorts tidied up and unwanted high
rise hotels demolished to make green areas.
Mallorca now has retained all the quality aspects
that influenced people to originally choose
it as a holiday destination of choice but has
removed those that have blighted it. Mallorca
is not only a beautiful place to visit but also
has a beautiful climate to enjoy when you are
there.
In
terms of Palma Mallorca itself, the town has
a fascinating history dating back to the 13th
century with one of the must see sights being
the 14th century Bellver Castle. You can wind
your way through Palma's cobbled back streets
and encounter wide, modern boulevards - ancient
meets contemporary in cosmopolitan Palma, providing
a delightful blend of culture, history and modern
amenities.
Palma
offers modern shopping malls, high-street shops
and charming boutiques, perfect for die-hard
shoppers, while Palma's numerous pavement cafes
provide a welcome break in-between the city's
magnificent sights. You can also stroll down
the famous tree-lined Passeig des Born at the
heart of Palma's historical centre, bordered
by ancient narrow lanes and elegant palaces,
or visit the sophisticated shops of the elegant
Avenida Jaume III, one of Palma's best-known
avenues.
Palma
offers a fantastic range of bars and nightclubs,
although the liveliest nightlife is to be found
at nearby Magaluf (which we can arrange trips
to) Palma's nightlife offers everything from
a quiet drink to all-night partying - whatever
suits you, Palma has a variety of venues to
suit virtually any taste. Discos, bars and pubs
aplenty which have an international flair and
you'll also find the "Paseo Maritimo". It's
yours to explore.
