The 2009 tournament would see a brand new winner as 2007 winners The Northern Monkeys and 2008 winners Red Light Runners were to ply their trade elsewhere in Europe on the eurofootballfives circuit this year. Who would that new winner be?

The 2009 Krakow Trophy saw us welcome back some friendly faces to eurofootballfives.com competition in the form of DHL Prague and Atlantic Star.

Atlantic Star made their eurofootballfives.com debut in the 2008 Prague Trophy. The highlight of their tournament was a 7-1 Plate Quarter-Final win over the Lions Bar. Their run was eventually ended by DHL Prague Red in the semi-finals.

This trophy was DHL Prague's 5th eurofootballfives.com tournament and their second outside the Czech Republic . DHL Prague fielded two teams – DHL Prague Blue and DHL Prague Red. DHL Prague Red were riding high after winning the 2008 Barca Fives Plate only last November. No doubt they would be looking at the Cup prize in Krakow .

In addition to our valued returning teams we were delighted to welcome Rigford Seahawks, Borussia Dorchmen, The Love Generation and Brighton & Hove Rockets who all made their debuts.

The local Polish challenge came from Wola, Azmot, Radio Taxi Barbakan, Hutnik Krakow Old Boys and Complex. The latter three teams have all competed before with Hutnik Krakow Old Boy's best performance a Quarter-Final in 2007. Radio Taxi Barbakan reached the same stage in 2008 losing on penalties to AFC Politico. Complex had previously come the closest to winning finishing Runners-Up in 2008 and boasting the 2008 Top Goalscorer with Marek Budka who found the net on 13 occasions.

The tournament was perfectly set-up. Please read on to see how the action unfolded over a great day of competition.
